Prime Minister Modi inaugurates 'Bharat Tex 2024' in New Delhi Government Scheme 4 min read

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Bharat Tex 2024’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on 26 February 2024. The event is one of the largest global textile events ever held in the country. Bharat Texas 2024 is scheduled to take place from February 26th to February 29th, 2024.

Bharat Tex 2024 organized:

  • The event is being organized at Bharat Mandapam and Yasho Bhoomi, two of the largest exhibition centers in India. The event was attended by over 3000 exhibitors and traders from approximately 100 countries and approximately 40,000 visitors.
  • The Prime Minister also visited an exhibition organized on the occasion.

The programme is inspired by the 5-Fs vision:

  • Taking inspiration from the PM's 5-Fs vision, the programme has an innovative integrated format through farm to foreign via fibre, fabric, fashion and focus. It covers the entire textile value chain. This will showcase India's strength in the textile sector and reaffirm India's position as a global textile superpower.

Highlights of Bharat Texas 2024:

  • It was organized by a consortium of 11 textile export promotion councils and supported by the government.
  • Bharat Tex 2024 is built on the twin pillars of trade and investment, with a strong focus on sustainability.
  • During the four-day event, there will be more than 65 knowledge sessions with over 100 global panelists addressing various challenges and topics relevant to the region. Many exhibitions have also been organized in it. It mainly included the following:
    • Pavilion dedicated to sustainability and sustainability
    • An indie market
    • Indian textile heritage
    • Fashion presentations on diverse topics such as sustainability and global design
    • Interactive fabric test area and product demonstration

Signing of more than 50 declarations and MoUs:

  • More than 50 declarations and MoUs are likely to be signed during the event.
  • This will further promote investment and trade in the textile sector and will help to increase exports.
  • This is another important step towards taking forward the Prime Minister's vision of a self-reliant India and a developed India.

Value of Indian Textile Market:

  • The value of the Indian textile market has now crossed Rs 12 lakh crore as compared to Rs 7 lakh crore in 2014.
  • Yarn, cloth and apparel production has increased by 25 percent.
  • 380 new BIS standards are ensuring quality control in this sector.
  • Due to this, FDI in this sector has doubled in the last 10 years.

Seven PM Mitra Park:

  • The PM highlighted the government's comprehensive plans to create seven PM Mitra Parks in different states.
  • The Prime Minister also stressed on creating opportunities for the entire textile sector.
