The International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure's 6th edition has begun in New Delhi.
The conference's theme is "Investing today for a more resilient tomorrow".
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed the importance of investing in infrastructure that can withstand disasters for a better tomorrow.
- In his video message to the conference, the Prime Minister pointed out that disasters impact individuals, families, and communities more than just monetary loss.
- He highlighted the need to incorporate resilience into both new infrastructure projects and post-disaster reconstruction efforts. Furthermore, in a world where disasters know no borders, he urged the necessity for collective resilience among nations.
International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI)
- The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure hosts an annual conference called the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI).
- This conference brings together governments, organizations, institutions, the media, and infrastructure stakeholders to discuss disaster and climate-resilient infrastructure.
- The goal is to build a global community that is engaged in creating resilient infrastructure, which can withstand disasters and climate change. The conference is an opportunity to strengthen the global discourse on these important topics.
Through ICDRI, the Coalition aims to:
- To drive action, there is a need to create a platform where decision-makers and influencers can come together to discuss shared challenges and identify areas where they can collaborate.
- New partnerships, showcase good practices, and expand the Coalition can be built.

- The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) was launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, at the 2019 UN Climate Summit.
- Some of the member countries: Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Bhutan, Chile, Fiji, France, Germany, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Maldives, Mauritius, Mongolia, Nepal, Netherlands, Peru, Sri Lanka, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. All these countries have endorsed the CDRI Charter.
