Suyash Jadhav, an Indian para swimmer, revealed his experience obtaining the Asian Para Games gold medal autographed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Suyash was the sole Indian swimmer to earn a medal in the Hangzhou - Asian Para Games in October 2023. Suyash received a bronze medal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Hangzhou, China. 

Biography of Suyash Yadav

  • Suyash Yadav is a swimmer in the S7 category.
  • He was the only Indian Para swimmer to get an 'A' qualifying mark for the 2016 Paralympics and make it to Rio.
  • Jadhav earned two medals in the IWAS World Games in Sochi, Russia, in 2015.
  • Soon after, he became the first Indian Para swimmer to achieve the 'A' qualifying mark for the Rio 2016 Paralympics. 
  • He created history in 2015 when he became the first Indian para swimmer to break the 'A' qualification standard for the 2016 Rio Paralympics, and he was India's only para swimmer in the event. 
  • He followed up this success by earning three silver medals at the 2016 German Swimming Championships, as well as two bronze medals and a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Para Games. 
  • In 2018, he won three medals in the Jakarta Asian Para Games, including a gold in the 50m Butterfly and bronzes in the 200m Individual Medley and 50m Freestyle. 
  • In 2020, he received the Arjuna Award in honour of his sports achievements and outstanding representation of his country in international competitions. 
  • Suyash finished fifth in his heat at the Tokyo Paralympics, just missing out on qualifying for the finals. 


  • In the 21st National Para Swimming Championship 2021-22, he won three gold medals in the 50 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke, and 100 m backstroke.

  • The Asian Para Games will be held on October 22, 2023, and will be managed by the Asian Paralympic Committee and recognised by the International Paralympic Committee. 
  • The Games is in its fourth year, with 566 medal events spread over 22 sports and 24 categories.
