The Indian cricket team for the forthcoming 13th ICC Men’s ODI(One Day International) World Cup 2023 was announced by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket In India ) chief selector Ajit Agrakar on 5 September 2023. The 15 member Indian squad includes KL Rahul who has not played any competitive cricket since May this year. He is the first choice wicket keeper for the team with Ishan Kishan as the second choice keeper.
The last date for announcement of the world squad for the 10 teams participating in the World Cup was 5th of September 2023. However the teams can still make changes in their squad until September 28 without needing approval from the ICC.
Hosts India begin their campaign on October 8 against five-time World Cup winners Australia in Chennai.
Rohit Sharma (Captain), Hardik Pandya (Vice-Captain),Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.
All 10 teams will compete against each other once in the round-robin stage. The top four teams at the end of the round-robin stage will qualify for the semi-finals.

It is an international governing body of men’s and women’s international cricket.
It was founded as the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1909 and was later converted into the International Cricket Conference in 1965.
In 1987 it was renamed as the International Cricket Council.
At present ICC has 108 members. The members of ICC are divided into two categories. .
Full members: There are 12 full member countries which are qualified to play test matches. They are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan.
Ireland and Afghanistan were granted full membership in 2017.
Associate members: There are 94 Associate members. They are not authorised to play test cricket but they do participate in other tournaments of ICC or at the regional level recognised by ICC.
