On February 27, 2024, the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) signed an MoU with the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine of the Government of Thailand.

  • This agreement was signed on behalf of India by the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India in New Delhi.
  • The agreement aims to foster academic collaboration in Ayurveda and Thai traditional medicine.

10th meeting of India-Thailand Joint Commission:

  • The 10th meeting of the India-Thailand Joint Commission was held at Hyderabad House, New Delhi on 27 February.
  • BK Singh, Ministry of AYUSH & Dr.Taweesin Visanuyothin, DG of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine signed the MoU.

  • This initiative will enhance cooperation between the two on the basis of equality and mutual benefit of the participants.
  • It will promote academic cooperation in the field of Ayurveda and Thai traditional medicine.
  • This will help in exchange of experts for research and training programmes, educational and technical activities.
  • It will  facilitate the conduct of research, exchange of information technologies and best practices for traditional medicine.

What kind of initiatives will be taken under the agreement?

  • Under this, the participants will facilitate academic and technical activities. We will also take necessary steps to encourage and promote cooperation in research for mutual benefit.
  • In these, there will be an exchange of experts, teaching trainers, practitioners and students for research and training programmes. It involves adjustment and exchange of knowledge, experience, information, technologies and best practices.
  • Also, scholarships will be provided for education.
  • Participation of experts in conferences organized by the participants and other areas of cooperation will be encouraged with mutual consent of the participants.

  • The objective of the MOU is mutual cooperation and partnership.
  • This includes training courses, research studies and exchanges.
  • Participants will share information and organize conferences.
  • Under this, progress will be reviewed regularly.

About All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA):

  • AIIA is a public Ayurveda medical and research institute of India in Delhi. AIIA was established on 10 October 2015.

AIIA aims to:

  • Its goal is to empower students with the basic tools to approach the science of Ayurveda in a structured manner.
  • This will enable them to have knowledge of the subject matter of Ayurveda literature.
  • This collaboration will allow them to integrate it into their clinical practice for the benefit of society.
