The FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) Men's Club Volleyball World Championship 2023 began on 6 December 2023 at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru. This prestigious tournament is being organised in India for the first time.
- It is the 18th edition of the club championship.
- A total of six teams are participating in this five-day competition (6 to 10 December 2023).
- The top two teams each from the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals to be held on December 9. Whereas the final title match will be played on 10 December 2023.
Ahmedabad Defenders- the first Indian team to participate in Championship 2023:
- Ahmedabad Defenders, which won the second edition of the Prime Volleyball League, becomes the first Indian team to participate in this tournament.
- Ahmedabad Defenders team is led by Muthusamy Appavu.
Teams participating in the Men's Volleyball World Championship 2023:
- A total of six teams are participating in this competition:
- Sir Sicoma Perugia - Italy
- Halkbank Spor Kulübü - Türkiye
- Sada Cruzeiro Volei and Itambe Minas - Brazil (two teams)
- Suntory Sunbirds - Japan
- Ahmedabad Defenders - India
Volleyball Men's World Championships:
- The Volleyball Men's World Championship is an international volleyball competition contested by the top men's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body.
- This championship is being organised every four years since 1962.
- The current champion of the competition is Italy, who won their fourth title at the 2022 tournament by defeating Poland in the final.
