Mahendra Singh Dhoni selected captain of the all-time great IPL team

Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni has been selected as the captain of the all-time great team of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was selected to celebrate the success of the world's most popular T20 league, which was launched in 2008.

IPL completes 16 years:

On 20 February 2024, the first IPL auction completed 16 years. Because the first auction was started on 20 February 2008 itself.
To mark the occasion, the IPL television broadcaster selected the greatest IPL team of all time with the help of former cricket greats and around 70 journalists.
Selection panel comprised cricket legends: Wasim Akram, Matthew Hayden, Tom Moody, and Dale Steyn.

Rohit Sharma has no place in the all-time team of IPL:

Australia's aggressive David Warner and India's great player Virat Kohli have been selected as openers while 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle has been given the number three position in the batting order.
Suresh Raina, AB de Villiers, Suryakumar Yadav and Dhoni have got place in the middle order.
Rohit Sharma, who won the title for Mumbai Indians five times, has not been included in the team. Rohit has 6211 runs to his name in 243 matches of IPL. Rohit has scored one century and 42 half-centuries.
Rohit is ranked fourth among the players who have scored the most runs in IPL history. Shikhar Dhawan, who was in second place, has also not been selected. He has scored 6617 runs in 217 matches. Virat Kohli is the player who has scored the most runs with 7263 runs.

Three all-rounders and three spinners in the 15-member team:

Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kieron Pollard named as the three all-rounders in the 15-member squad. Rashid Khan, Sunil Narine, and Yuzvendra Chahal chosen as spin bowlers, with Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah as the two fast bowlers.

The names of Rajasthan Royals- 2008 and Gujarat Titans- 2022 are also included in the list of teams becoming champions.
