Indian blind women cricket team wins gold at the IBSA WORLD Games 2023

The Indian women blind cricket team has won the gold medal at the IBSA World Games 2003 in Birmingham . In the final match the Indian women's team defeated the Australian women's team by 9 wickets .The Women cricket in T20 format made its debut in the  2023 IBSA World Games held in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The Indian women team remained undefeated throughout the tournament . In the final the batting first Australian team made 114/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Due to rain interruption the India team chased the revised target of  42 in the fourth over with the loss of 1 wicket  .

However the Indian men’s cricket team had to settle for a silver medal as they lost to Pakistan in the final match by 8 wickets . Batting first India made 184 runs in their allotted 20 overs . The Pakistani team chased the target at a loss of 2 wickets.

The International Blind Sport Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023 was held at the University of Birmingham,United Kingdom from 18-27 August 2023.  The IBSA World Games are the largest high-level international event for athletes with visual impairments, with more than 1000 competitors from more than 70 nations.

The first IBSA World Games was held in Madrid, Spain in 1998. It is held  every four years. The World Games are the pinnacle of the international calendar outside of the Paralympic Games.

It is the governing body for the Paralympic sports of goalball, judo and blind football.
