India will host the first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Goa from 20-24 November 2024. This was announced by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwani Vaishnaw, at a curtain-raiser event in New Delhi.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr L. Murugan, were also present at the occasion.
Ashwani Vaishnaw said that the Narendra Modi government is committed to encouraging and supporting the entire media and entertainment ecosystem in the country.
He said the government is committed to making India the world's content creation hub.
For this purpose, the government has made policies and efforts to create an ecosystem that encourages the creation of high-quality content and protects content through strong intellectual property rights.
The first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES will be held alongside the 55th International Film Festival of India(IFFI).
The 55th International Film Festival of India will be held in Goa from 20-28 November 2024.
The 55th IFFI is being organised by the National Film Development Corporation of India Ltd (NFDC) in collaboration with the State Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry.
The NFDC comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, government of India.
The first IFFI was held in 1952 and has been held annually since 1975. In 2014, Goa was made the permanent venue of the IFFI.
India has the distinction of being the largest producer of feature films in the world.
