The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the schedule and fixtures of the 9th Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 cricket tournament which will be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, from 19 to 28 July 2024. India is currently the champion of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 cup.
According to the ACC, all the officials in the tournament will be women. In the last edition of the Women's Asia Cup held in Bangladesh, the ACC, for the first time, appointed only women as the match referee and the umpires.
The 2024 edition of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 cricket tournament will feature eight Asian teams. Only seven teams participated in the last edition held in Bangladesh in 2022.
India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be joined by the Women's Premier Cup 2024 semi-finalists - UAE, Malaysia, Nepal and Thailand.
India, Pakistan, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates teams have been put in Group A.
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia are in Group B.
The top two teams from each group will play in the semi-finals on July 26, and the final will be played on July 28.
The Asian Cricket Council has organised the Women’s Asian Cup Cricket event biennially since 2004. The event is played either in the 50-over One Day International (ODI) format or in the T-20-over format. The first Women’s Asian Cup was held in 2004 in Sri Lanka in the ODI format. India won the inaugural Women’s Asian Cup by defeating the host Sri Lanka in the final.
India is the tournament's most successful team. It has appeared in all eight finals, winning seven times but it lost to Bangladesh in the 2018 final.

The Asian Cricket Council(ACC) was established as the Asian Cricket Conference in 1983 at a meeting in New Delhi. In 1993, its name was changed to the Asian Cricket Council.
It is the apex body of men’s and women’s cricket in Asia and is affiliated with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Members: At present, 25 countries are members of the ACC. The founding members of the ACC are Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.
