Vaibhav Suryavanshi of the Rajasthan Royals scored 101 runs off just 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match to become the youngest player to score a century in IPL history.

In a league match against the Gujarat Titans played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 28, 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 11 sixes and seven fours to make 101 runs, helping his team chase 210 runs made by the Gujarat Titans.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar is the youngest player to play in the IPL. He was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore in the IPL auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 24 and 25 November 2024.

  • He was 13 years and 243 days old at that time.
  • At the age of 14 years and 32 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest to score a century in IPL history.
  • He scored the second-fastest century in IPL after West Indian Chris Gayle.
  • Chris Gayle, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, scored 175 runs in  66 balls against Pune Warriors at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in 2013.  His score of 175 is still the highest in a T20 match.
  • Fastest century by an india - He broke the record of Yusuf Pathan for the fastest century in IPL. Yusuf Pathan scored 100 runs in 37 balls against the Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium in 2010.

Koneru Humpy wins 2025 Pune Chess Grand Prix 

Indian Women Grandmaster (GM) chess player Koneru Humpy won the  2025 Pune FIDE Women’s Grand Prix beating International master (IM) Nurgyul Salimova of Bulgaria in the final round. 

She finished the tournament with 7 points. 

Chinese GM Zhu Jiner finished second with 7 points but lost the tiebreaker match, ultimately finishing second.

Both Koneru Humpy and Zhu Jiner won prize money of USD 17.600 and 117.5 ranking points. 

IM Divya Deshmukh of India finished third with 5.5 points.

The FIDE Pune Grand Prix is a qualifying event for the 2026 FIDE Women’s Candidate Tournament. 

The winner of the Candidate Tournament will take on the current Women's World Chess Champion, Ju Wenjun of China, to decide the next FIDE Women's World Chess Champion.
