- The opening batsman, who had scored more than 50 runs three times in this year’s tournament but could not score a century, finally achieved success by scoring a century in the most important match against the two-time former winners.
- Brief score: Vidarbha 317/8 in 50 overs (Atharva Taide 128, Yash Rathod 54; Ankur Panwar 4-65) beat Saurashtra 279 in 48.5 overs (Prerak Mankad 88, Chirag Jani 64; Yash Thakur 4-50, Nachiket Bhute 3-46) by 38 runs.

About Vijay Hazare Trophy
- It is a cricket tournament played in India. It is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and state and city teams compete in it in a league and playoff format.
- Along with the Inter-Zonal Deodhar Trophy, it forms the top level of List A cricket in the country, and is an important feeder tournament for selection to the Indian national cricket team. Each team has 50 overs in a match, similar to One Day International matches. It was initially a zonal tournament, and became a national tournament in the year 2002.
- The Vijay Hazare Trophy started in the 1993-94 season as the Ranji One Day Trophy, which was the List A equivalent of the first-class Ranji Trophy.
- The most successful teams of that era were Bombay/Mumbai (8 titles) and Bengal (6 titles).
- It became a national competition in 2002-03, in which every year a national champion was crowned in a knockout stage.
- Since then the most successful teams have been Tamil Nadu and Karnataka (5 titles each). For the 2007-08 edition, it was named in honour of Vijay Hazare.
