QS World Future Skills Index 2027 and the top 15 ranking countries list.

On 23 June 2026, QS Quacquarelli Symonds released the QS World Future Skills Index 2027, which assesses 89 economies on four indicators: Skills Fit, Academic Readiness, Future of Work, and Economic Transformation. India ranked 13th globally with a score of 89.4, placing it among the top performers in future-work readiness.

India ranks 13th in the QS World Future Skills Index

The country showed strong outcomes in economic transformation and academic readiness, two areas where India's growing education system and workforce seem to be paying off. In the Future of Work category, India came in 5th place with a score of 96.0. However, the report highlighted that skills alignment is something India still needs to work on.

Four Indicators of QS World Future Skills Index 

The QS World Future Skills Index is built around four parameters that assess talent supply and demand. 

1. Skill Alignment - This measures how well educational institutions prepare students with the skills demanded by employers. 
2. Academic Readiness - This evaluates the strength and how well they have prepared students for the future. 
3. Future Work - This category checks how ready the country is for AI, digital upgrades, and a green economy.  
4. Economic Transformation - This part measures how well a country is using its people to boost work, ideas, and growth. 

The report estimated that if India gets AI adoption right, it could add nearly $500 billion in economic value by 2030. In the previous pilot edition of the QS World Future Skill Index Report, India ranked 25th.
