India and Armenia signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries. The MoUs were signed during the visit of Armenia’s foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan to India.
Ararat Mirzoyan was on a three day official visit to India from 9-11 March 2025.
During his visit to New Delhi,Ararat Mirzoyan held official level talks with the Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S.Jaishankar.
They discussed the regional and bilateral issue. Discussion was held on a wide range of bilateral issues like the cooperation in the field of trade,economics, politics,connectivity, education, culture, and people-to-people contacts.
Both sides also agreed to explore cooperation in digital technologies, and pharmaceuticals.
Two MoUs were signed between the two countries in the presence of both the ministers.

India and Armenia share a long historical and cultural ties .
The first ever Armenian journal to be published in the world, Azardar was published in Chennai (then Madras) in 1774.
India established diplomatic relations with Armenia in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union, of which Armenia was a part.

India has also signed multi million dollar contract to supply Indian-made howitzers, anti-tank rockets, and anti-drone equipment to the Armenian army
Armenia traditionally buys weapon systems from Russia but due to Russian preoccupation with its war in Ukraine, Armenia is looking for an alternative source of weapons.
Armenia is in conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno Karabakh region. Nagorno Karabakh is an enclave in Azerbaijan but its majority population is ethnic Armenians.
Pakistan and Turkyie are the major supporter and weapon supplier to Azerbaijan.
Armenia is a landlocked country in the mountainous Transcaucasian region.
Geographically it is part of Asia but has very close cultural ties with Europe.
It is the site of one of the earliest Christian civilizations.
It was part of the Soviet Union and became independent in 1991.
