9 Indian Companies Join WEF's 2026 Technology Pioneers Group

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has released its new 2026 Technology Pioneers group.

It features 100 early-stage companies from 23 countries that are transforming industries and society through revolutionary innovations in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), energy, quantum computing, biotechnology, climate innovation, space, and advanced manufacturing.

A total of 9 Indian start-ups were included in this year's technology group list (compared to 10 start-ups in the 2025 list).

With this addition, the total number of Indian companies in the WEF group has reached 28, including Agnikul Cosmos, Cropin, Digantara, and others.

Bellatrix Aerospace – Manufactures advanced satellite propulsion systems.

Dhruva Space – Provides end-to-end space engineering solutions.

OrbitAID – Develops technology for in-orbit satellite servicing and refueling. Sarla Aviation – Designs electric air taxis for urban mobility. Varaha – Develops technology-based climate and carbon removal solutions.

Autonomize AI – Builds AI infrastructure for the healthcare industry.

Airbound – Innovates in ultra-lightweight and efficient drone delivery technology. BorderPlus – Focuses on secure network infrastructure and technology.

2026 Technology Pioneers Group: Top 3 Countries

The USA has the highest number of tech start-ups in the 2026 list (43 start-ups); it is followed by China (10), India (9), and the United Kingdom (UK) (8). The selected companies will contribute to WEF initiatives under a two-year engagement program.

The 2026 cohort includes one startup each from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Kenya, Mexico, Slovenia, and the UAE.

Launched in 2000, the 'Technology Pioneers' community comprises leading early-stage companies from around the world that are shaping the future through new technologies and innovation.

The growing role of India, China, and Europe in the field of new technology became evident with the 2025 Technology Pioneers cohort, and this trend has strengthened further this year.

From nuclear fusion and lunar resource extraction to neurosurgical robotics, AI is enabling these early-stage companies to undertake tasks that previously required massive capital and large workforces.

Nine Indian companies are included, many from the space and deep-tech sectors; South Korea has its strongest representation to date; and the Middle East, Latin America, and Southeast Asia are also increasing their presence.
