WWF-India has launched a nationwide Green Diwali Campaign 2026 to urge people to celebrate a clean, cracker-free festival. The campaign will run from 20 October to 8 November 2026.
The campaign has been started by the Programme Centre – Resource Partner (PC-RP) of WWF-India, which works under the EIACP programme. It is supported by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). It will reach schools, colleges, educational institutions, resident welfare associations and local communities across the country. Special attention will be given to the 130 cities covered under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), where air quality is a major concern.

The main aim is to persuade citizens to avoid firecrackers and celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly way. The campaign is linked to Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), which promotes simple daily habits that protect nature.
