The Staff Selection Commission is soon going to conduct the SSC Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff, and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Exam 2023. As per the official notification, the online application for the SSC MTS exam has started on 30 June 2023. The Commission has declared 1558 tentative vacancies for MTS & Havaldar posts.
The SSC MTS exam is a national-level exam to select candidates for General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments, and Government offices of India.

The Staff Selection Commission will conduct the SSC MTS 2023 exam to recruit candidates for various posts like Havaldar, Safaiwala, Chowkidar, Junior Gestetner Operator, Peon, Mali, etc.
Candidates can apply for Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff, and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) posts on the official website ssc.nic.in. The official notification and application link has been released on 30 June 2023. The exam summary is given in the table below.

The official notification for the SSC MTS & Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Exam, 2023 has been released on the official SSC website on 30 June, 2023. The online application for the exam has also been started and will be active till 21 July 2023. The exam is scheduled to be held in September 2023.
The Staff Selection Commission has made a change in the SSC MTS exam pattern for the year 2023. The exam will now be conducted for 270 marks. Earlier the exam was conducted for 100 marks.
Also, there will be no descriptive test for the year 2023. Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the computer-based test.

SSC MTS Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the SSC MTS exam, you must ensure that you satisfy all the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Commission for the vacant posts. As per the official notice of the SSC MTS & Havaldar exam, the conditions for eligibility for this exam session shall be as under :
Nationality :
There are a few conditions for nationality/ citizenship prescribed by the Commission for the eligibility of vacant posts. As per these, a candidate must be either of the following :
an Indian citizen, or
a Nepalese subject, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain prescribed Asian or African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (complete details in official notification).
SSC MTS Age Limit :
Minimum age: 18 Years.
Maximum age:
For the Havaldar post (CBIC) : 27 years
For others : 25 years
Note: The age limit will be considered as per the candidate's age on 01/08/2023.

Required Educational Qualification :
To qualify for the vacant posts, the applicant must have cleared the Matriculation examination (class 10th) or equivalent from a recognized board/university as on or before the cut-off date i.e. 01-08-2023.
The applicants shortlisted for multi-tasking staff posts are salaried with pay level-1 as consistent with the pay matrix of 7th Pay Commission. The basic pay is Rs. 5,200-20,200, and the grade pay is Rs. 1,800.
The Staff Selection Commission selects suitable candidates on the basis of a two-stage selection process, as under :
SSC MTS Paper I : Written Test (Objective type CBT)
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) (only for the post of Havaldar).
The written test under the SSC MTS Paper-I consists of four sections : Mathematical Ability, Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension
The duration of the SSC MTS Exam will be 90 minutes for both sessions (45 minutes each) for general candidates and 120 (60+60) minutes for PwD candidates.
Mode of exam : There will be a Computer-Based Examination which is divided into 2 sessions, session-I and session-II.
The computer-based exam will consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions.
Medium of exam : Apart from Hindi and English, the paper will also be held in 13 local languages given in the table below.

Negative Marking in SSC MTS Exam
There will be no negative marking in Session-I.
In Session II, there will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.

The SSC conducts the PET only for the post of Havaldar in CBIC and CBN. Based on earlier notifications for recruitment, the parameters expected for this year's recruitment are presented below.

Exception
The minimum standard of height for male candidates is relaxable by 5 cm in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Schedule Tribes.
For Female Candidates, there is a relaxation of 2.5 cm in minimum height and of 2 kg in minimum weight. This is only available in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Schedule Tribes.

The Staff Selection Commission conducts the exam at various exam centers across India. The centres are announced region-wise for all the states and Union Territories.
Candidates have to give three options for their choice of MTS exam center in order of preference while filling the application form. The list of exam centers will be declared in the official notification released by the Commission.
