The SSC CGL Answer Key for Tier 1 was released on August 1, 2023. The commission issued the notification for the SSC CGL 2023 on April 3, 2023. Online applications for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination were accepted from 3 April to 3 May 2023. A total of 8415 job openings have been announced. 

Before applying, candidates should carefully read and comprehend the eligibility criteria. They should also be aware of the examination pattern, subjects covered in the CGL Tier I and II Exams, and other exam-related information. SSC CGL 2023 Overview

The SSC CGL exam is considered one of the most popular examinations conducted by the commission which draws many candidates each year.  Each year, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) holds the exam to recruit candidates for non-gazetted Group 'C' posts and non-technical Group 'B' posts in various ministries and departments of the Government of India. Candidates are advised to carefully read the notification and eligibility criteria before registering for the SSC CGL exam to ensure that they meet all of the requirements.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2023 ‘

CGL Nationality 

  • A candidate must be either: 
  1. An Indian Citizen, or 
  2. a subject of Nepal, or 
  3. a subject of Bhutan, or 
  4. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zaire, Malawi, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 

Note: A candidate who requires a certificate of eligibility may be admitted to the Examination, but the offer of appointment will be made only after the Government of India has issued the necessary eligibility certificate to him (hereinafter referred to as 'him/her').

SSC CGL Application Process

The application for SSC CGL 2023 can be submitted online at the Commission's website. Interested candidates can apply from April 3rd to May 3rd, 2023, via the link provided above, and if you encounter any difficulties, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Visit the Staff Selection Commission's (SSC) official website.
  2. On the homepage, click the "Apply" tab and then select the link for the Combined Graduate Level Examination 2023 under the CGL section.
  3. Enter your login information and captcha, then click the login button.
  4. After you've logged in, go to the SSC CGL Exam tab and click the "Apply Now" button.
  5. Fill out the application form completely and choose your preferred exam location.
  6. Check all of the information you entered in the application form twice because changes will not be permitted after submission.
  7. Upload your photograph and signature in accordance with the SSC guidelines.
  8. To complete the SSC CGL application process, pay the application fee online.

It is recommended that all details be double-checked before final submission, as any errors or discrepancies in the application form may result in rejection.

The SSC CGL application fee can be paid Online and Offline both methods. 

  • Online payment modes include Net Banking, debit/credit cards as well as BHIM UPI. 
  • Alternatively, candidates can also pay the fee offline in cash through the SBI branches by generating an SBI Challan.

Candidates are advised to keep a copy of the application form and payment receipt for future reference.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2023 

The SSC CGL 2023 selection process is based on the two stages, i.e. Tier I and Tier II. A candidate must pass each stage of the CGL Exam in order to be finally selected.

  • The following are the minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I, Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II, Paper-II, and Paper-III of Tier-II Examination:
  1. Ureserved: 30% 
  2. Other Backward Classes/ Economical weaker section: 25%
  3. All other categories: 20% 
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-II examinations based on their performance in Tier-I, which is a computer-based examination. 
  • Separate cut-offs will be set for Paper-II of Tier-II (for the post of Junior Statistical Officer), Paper-III of Tier-II (for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer), and Paper-I of Tier-II (for all other jobs).
  • All candidates in Tier-II will be required to take all three sections of Paper-I. Only those candidates who have been shortlisted for the positions of Junior Statistical Officer and Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer will be required to take Papers II and III.
  • On the basis of their overall performance in Sections I and II of Paper-I of Tier-II Examination, candidates will be shortlisted for evaluation of Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II Examination. Candidates who do not meet the requirements in Sections I and II will not be evaluated in Section III and will not be considered for the next round of selection. 
  • Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II is qualifying in nature

  • There will be a 1 mark deduction for each incorrect answer in Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I, and a 0.50 mark deduction for each incorrect answer in Paper-II and Paper-III.
  • The Data Entry Speed Test is compulsory for all posts; however, it will only be qualifying in nature.
  • Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III will be administered in separate shifts during the Tier-II examination, and Paper-I is mandatory for all positions.
  • Paper-II will only be for candidates who apply for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) positions in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and are shortlisted in Tier-I. 
  • Similarly, only those candidates who were shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III, i.e. for the positions of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer, will be eligible to take Paper-III.

SSC CGL EXAM SYLLABUS 2023

SSC CGL Vacancies 2023 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) initially released a tentative count of 7,500 vacancies for the CGL 2023, as stated in their notification. Subsequently, an update on 18 August 2023, revealed a revised count of 8,440 vacancies across various departments. However, in the latest notice issued on 17 November 2023, the commission finalized the vacancies at a slightly adjusted number of 8,415 for the CGL 2023 examination.

Any changes to the vacancies, including the number of positions available by post and category, will be posted on the Commission's website after declaration of final result. To check the number of vacancies candidates are advised to check the candidate's corner of the official website (https://ssc.nic.in> Candidate's Corner > Tentative Vacancy).

SSC CGL Admit Card 2023

The Staff Selection Commission will issue the admit card for the CGL examination 3-7 days prior to the exam date 2023 on the website of the commission's concerned Regional Office. The SSC CGL Admit Card can only be downloaded and printed from the official website. Candidates should be aware that the SSC will not send them a hard copy of their admit card. Candidates must have pertinent information such as their Username/Registration Number, Password/Date of Birth, and so on. 

To download your SSC CGL Admit Card for Tier-I and Tier-II separately, follow the steps below:

  • Visit the regional website of the SSC.
  • Under the Latest News Section, click on the "SSC CGL Admit Card 2023" link.
  • A new window will open, prompting you to enter your credentials (Registration Number/Password) and the captcha.
  • To download the admit card that appears on your screen, click submit.
  • Print both the Admit Card and the candidate's Instructions page.

Candidates should also keep in mind that the SSC CGL Admit Card is the most important document, as without it, no candidate will be admitted to the exam.

SSC CGL Result 2023

SSC CGL 2023, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will release the SSC CGL 2023 result in two stages, Tier I and Tier II, respectively. To be eligible for Tier II, an aspirant must achieve the Tier I cutoff set by the board. After completing all stages of the selection process, the board will announce the selected candidate's SSC CGL Final Result. Candidates can access the results via the link provided below.
