SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2025 

SSC Stenographer Recruitment Notification 2025 is out with all the recruitment-related details such as the application process, exam pattern, exam syllabus, application dates, vacancy etc. Candidates have to go through the two-layer selection process which includes Computer Based Examination and Skill Test to get selected for the SSC Stenographer position. SSC Stenographer Computer-Based Examination 2025 will be conducted between 6 to 11 August 2025 for the direct recruitment of Stenographers Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographers Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’). SSC Stenographer Vacancy 2025

Recently, SSC has issued a notice regarding the vacancy increment of  SSC Stenographer 2025. According to the notice issued on 24 June 2025, a total of 1590 vacancies have been announced by the SSC, including 1360 vacancies for the Stenographer Grade 'D and 230​​​​​​​ vacancies for the Stenographer Grade 'C'. Earlier, 261 vacancies were announced by the Staff Selection Commission for the SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2025. Updated information, including post-wise and category-wise vacancies, will be posted on the Commission's website in due course. Once the SSC Stenographer Vacancies are announced by the SSC, we will update this section accordingly.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria  

Before applying for the SSC Stenographer Examination 2025, applicants must check the information regarding the age limits and educational requirements. They must meet the eligibility standards, if they do not meet the qualifications, they will not be considered for the Stenographer Grade C & D posts.

Nationality

To be eligible for this post, the candidate must fulfill either of the nationality criteria:

  • a citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC Stenographer Recruitment Application Process

Applications for the SSC Stenographer 2025 Recruitment can be submitted online until 26 June 2025. Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Go to the Staff Selection Commission's official website.
  2. On the homepage click on the Apply tab and select “Stenographer Grade 'C' and 'D' Examination,2025”.
  3. If you haven’t generated your One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website, then first generate the OTR. 
  4. Use your registration number and password to log in.
  5. Look for “Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination” under the latest notifications.
  6. Click on “Apply” at the bottom right and fill out all required fields.
  7. Upload your scanned photograph and signature.
  8. Click “I Agree” and enter the Captcha code.
  9. Review your application by clicking the Preview button.
  10. Once satisfied with your application, click Submit.
  11. Use the provided payment gateways to pay the application fee.
  12. After completing the application, save a copy and print it for your records.

SSC Stenographer Application Fees 2025

Fees can only be paid online via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay credit or debit card. Fees paid through any other mode will not be accepted by the commission.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2025

The SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2025 selection process consists of two stages:

Stage I: Computer-Based Examination

The Computer-Based Examination (CBT) will be MCQ-based, having 200 questions for 200 marks. Except for the English language section, the CBT questions will be bilingual (Hindi and English).

Stage II: Skill Test

Candidates will get shortlisted for the skill test based on their performance in the computer-based test. The board will conduct a skill test that will only be qualifying in nature. Candidates should know that the skill test is mandatory, and those who do not take it will not be considered for the final selection.

Final Selection: The final selection and assignment to the various Ministries/Departments under SSC Stenographer Recruitment will include the CBT score and the candidate's preference of Post/Department.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates who are going to appear in the SSC Stenographer Exam 2025 should be familiar with the Steno Examination Pattern which will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test. Below we are detailing the SSC Steno Exam Pattern 2025:-

  • A total of 2 hours will be allotted for taking the exam, with candidates eligible for scribe receiving an additional 2 hours and 40 minutes.
  • This stage is crucial because the final merit list will be based solely on the CBT Exam.
  • In the Computer-Based Examination, there will be a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.
  • Marks scored by candidates in the Computer Based Examination will be normalized if held in multiple shifts.

Skill Test in Stenography

In the Stenography Skill Test, candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as specified by the candidate in the online Application Form) at a speed of:

  • 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for Stenographer Grade 'C' and
  • 80 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade 'D'.

SSC Stenographer Admit Card 2025

The admit cards will be issued by the Staff Selection Commission 3-7 days prior to the SSC Stenographer Exam Date 2025 on the website of the concerned Regional Office of the commission. Check out the following points to learn more about the SSC Stenographer Admit Card.

SSC Steno Admit Card can only be downloaded and printed from the official website. Candidates must have relevant information like Username/Registration Number, Password/Date of Birth etc.  Candidates should know that the SSC will not send a hard copy of their admit card to their home address.

Follow the steps below to download your SSC Stenographer Admit Card for both stages (CBT and Skill Test).

  • Visit the SSC's respective regional website.
  • Click on the "SSC Stenographer Admit Card 2025" link given under the Latest News Section.
  • A new window will open in which you must enter your credentials (Registration Number/Password) as well as the captcha.
  • Click submit to download the admit card that appears on your screen.
  • Take a printout of the Admit Card as well as the candidate’s instructions page.

Candidates should also remember that the SSC Stenographer Admit Card is the most important document, as no candidate will be admitted to the exam without it.

In addition to the Admission Certificate (Admit Card), you must bring at least two passport-size recent colour photographs, as well as original valid photo-ID proof with your date of birth as it appears on the Admission Certificate, such as-

(i) Aadhaar Card/ Printout of E-Aadhaar, 

(ii) Voter’s ID Card, 

(iii) Driving License, 

(iv) PAN Card, 

(v) Passport,

SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2025

Once the Stenographer CBE 2025 is concluded, the Staff Selection Commission will upload the SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2025 PDF on its official website. Candidates are advised to carefully review the answer key and, if required, submit their objections within the stipulated timeframe through online mode only. Candidates will be required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- for each question they wish to challenge against any question or answer of the SSC Steno Answer Key. It will be available for download here, once it is uploaded on the official website.

SSC Stenographer Result 2025

The SSC Stenographer 2025 Result will be announced by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The results will be declared in two stages: the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and the Skill Test. To qualify for the Skill Test, candidates must meet the CBT cutoff set by the Commission. After both stages are completed, the Commission will release the final SSC Stenographer Result.
