SSC Stenographer How to Apply Online 2026 

SSC Stenographer registration last date 2026 has been announced by the Staff Selection Commission through the SSC Stenographer notification 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their SSC Stenographer Form 2026 till 15 May 2026. Candidates are required to follow the procedure below to submit their SSC Stenographer Online Application Form 2026:- 

1. Go to the Staff Selection Commission's official website.
2. On the homepage, click on the Apply tab and select “Stenographer Grade 'C' and 'D' Examination,2026”.
3. If you haven’t generated your One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website, then first generate the OTR. 
4. Use your registration number and password to log in.
5. Look for “Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination” under the latest notifications.
6. Click on “Apply” at the bottom right and fill out all required fields.
7. Upload your scanned photograph and signature.
8. Click “I Agree” and enter the Captcha code.
9. Review your application by clicking the Preview button.
10. Once satisfied with your application, click Submit.
11. Use the provided payment gateways to pay the application fee.
12. After completing the application, save a copy and print it for your records.

SSC Stenographer Documents Required

SSC Stenographer 2026 Exam Application Fees

Fees can only be paid online via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay credit or debit card. Fees paid through any other mode will not be accepted by the commission.

SSC Stenographer 2026 Selection Process

The SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026 selection process consists of two stages:

Stage I: Computer-Based Examination

The Computer-Based Examination (CBT) will be MCQ-based, having 200 questions for 200 marks. Except for the English language section, the CBT questions will be bilingual (Hindi and English).

Stage II: Skill Test

Candidates will get shortlisted for the skill test based on their performance in the computer-based test. The board will conduct a skill test that will only be qualifying in nature. Candidates should know that the skill test is mandatory, and those who do not take it will not be considered for the final selection.

Final Selection: The final selection and assignment to the various Ministries/Departments under SSC Stenographer Recruitment will include the CBT score and the candidate's preference of Post/Department.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2026

Candidates who are going to appear in the SSC Stenographer Exam 2026 should be familiar with the Steno Examination Pattern which will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test. Below we are detailing the SSC Steno Exam Pattern 2026:-

• A total of 2 hours will be allotted for taking the exam, with candidates eligible for scribe receiving an additional 2 hours and 40 minutes.
• This stage is crucial because the final merit list will be based solely on the CBT Exam.
• In the Computer-Based Examination, there will be a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.
• Marks scored by candidates in the Computer Based Examination will be normalized if held in multiple shifts.

Skill Test in Stenography

In the Stenography Skill Test, candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as specified by the candidate in the online Application Form) at a speed of:

• 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for Stenographer Grade 'C' and
• 80 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade 'D'.

Note: Candidates who choose to take the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment, or their probation may be terminated by the appointing departments/organisations.

SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2026

Note: There will be no Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data questions in the General Intelligence & Reasoning/General Awareness Paper for VH candidates with 40% or more visual disability.

SSC Stenographer Admit Card 2026

The admit cards were issued by the Staff Selection Commission 2 days prior to the SSC Stenographer Exam Date 2026 on the website of the concerned Regional Office of the commission. Check out the following points to learn more about the SSC Stenographer Admit Card.

SSC Steno Admit Card can only be downloaded and printed from the official website. Candidates must have relevant information like Username/Registration Number, Password/Date of Birth etc.  Candidates should know that the SSC will not send a hard copy of their admit card to their home address.

SSC Stenographer Admit Card Download Steps 2026

Follow the steps below to download your SSC Stenographer Admit Card for both stages (CBT and Skill Test).

• Visit the SSC's respective regional website.
• Click on the "SSC Stenographer Admit Card 2026" link given under the Latest News Section.
• A new window will open in which you must enter your credentials (Registration Number/Password) as well as the captcha.
• Click submit to download the admit card that appears on your screen.

SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026

SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 will be issued by the Staff Selection Commission after the successful completion of the SSC Stenographer exam 2026. SSC Steno Answer Key 2026 will contain the correct answers to each question asked in the exam, and candidates will be allowed to raise their challenges against it in the specified time by paying Rs 50/- per question, which is non-refundable.

All representations submitted regarding the answer keys will be carefully examined by subject experts before finalizing them. The Commission’s decision in this matter will be final. The final answer keys will be used to prepare the results of the Computer-Based Examination and will be published on the Commission’s website after the result declaration.

SSC Steno Exam 2026 Answer Key can be downloaded by following the steps below:-

1. Go to the official website of the Commission at ssc.gov.in.
2. On the homepage, click on the link titled “SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Examination 2026: Answer Key & Response Sheet of the Computer Based Examination.”
3. A PDF file will open containing the direct link to access the final answer key. Carefully read the instructions mentioned to proceed.
4. Click on the provided link, which will redirect you to the login page. Enter your Roll Number and Password to sign in.
5. Once logged in, locate the Stenographer Answer Key 2026 link on your dashboard and click on it. Your answer key, along with the response sheet, will appear on the screen.
6. Download and keep a copy of the SSC Stenographer Answer Key PDF and response sheet for future use.

SSC Stenographer Result 2026

SSC Stenographer 2026 Exam Cut-off 

SSC Stenographer Cut Off Marks 2026 will be declared by the SSC along with the result.  Candidates are required to score above the cut-off marks in Computer Based Exam to proceed to the skill test.
