What is the SSC JHT Exam?

The Staff Selection Commission holds an open competitive examination to recruit eligible candidates for Group 'B' Non-Gazetted posts of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator and Senior Translator. Candidates finally selected through this recruitment process are recommended by SSC to serve in different Ministries/Departments/Organisations of the Central Government. 

SSC JHT 2023 Notification

The SSC Junior Translator Notification 2023 for 307 tentative vacancies was issued on August 22, 2023. The Staff Selection Commission includes the SSC JHT 2023 eligibility requirements for all candidates in its official notice. Candidates who wish to apply for the SSC JHT examination must carefully review the SSC JHT eligibility requirements 2023. 

  • The key qualifying criteria for SSC Junior Hindi Translator are age, academic qualification, and nationality.

  • SSC Junior Translator 2023 candidates must be citizens of India, Nepal, or Bhutan. 
  • The candidate can also be a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 and settled permanently in India.
  • Besides, Indian origin migrants who came to India to settle from the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Pakistan, East African countries of Kenya, Burma, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Sri-Lanka, Uganda, Ethiopia and Vietnam are also eligible to apply for SSC JHT Exam.

Candidates must have been born between January 1, 1992, and January 1, 2004. The age limit for SSC JHT positions is 18–30 years.

SSC JHT 2023 Application Process

SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2023 application form will be available online on August 22. Until September 12, the SSC JHT application form may be filled in two parts – part 1 and part 2. Candidates must provide information about any picture identity evidence, such as an Aadhaar card, a voter card, a PAN, a school/college ID, a driving licence, an employer ID, a passport, or a left thumb impression. 

 

SSC JHT 2023 Registration – Part 1

  • New users must register in part 1 to generate a one-time registration ID and password to fill out the SSC JHT 2023 application form.
  • Current users can log in using the registration ID and password established earlier. 
  • To proceed, candidates must provide basic information such as their name, gender, country, date of birth, and so on. Upload a scanned photograph and signature, then hit the ‘Submit' button. 
  • The registration and password information will be delivered to the candidate's email address supplied while filling out the application form.

SSC JHT 2023 Registration – Part 2

  • Candidates must input their registration ID and password to access part 2 of the SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2023 application form.
  • Candidates must choose an Exam Centre, a means of payment, pay the required amount, and submit the application fee.
  • Candidates must also keep a printout of their application for future reference.

  • Females and SC/ST/PH candidates are excluded from paying the application fee.

SSC JHT 2023 Correction Window

After submitting the SSC JHT application form, candidates cannot change any of the details. Details can only be edited before submitting the application form. As a result, candidates must cross-check the information they supplied during Part 1 of the registration process and make any modifications if required.

SSC JHT 2023 Selection Process

The selection process of SSC JHT is divided into two stages, i.e. Paper-1 and Paper-2, followed by Document Verification Process. 

Paper-I (Objective-type): According to the SSC JHT Notification 2023, the Paper-1 computer-based test is divided into two sections. 

Section I will consist of 100 General Hindi questions, whereas Section II will consist of 100 General English questions. In each section, there will be 200 questions for a total of 200 marks.

 

Paper-II (Descriptive):  Candidates who pass Paper I will be shortlisted to take Paper II of the SSC JHT. Paper II is divided into two sections: translation and essay writing. 

SSC JHT Exam Pattern 

SSC has mentioned the exam pattern for SSC JHT in the official notification. The SSC JHT written exam consists of two papers: Objective and Conventional. The objective-type are computer-based  questions, but Paper 2 will be of descriptive nature (conventional type).

Paper 1

  • Part 1 of the objective-type paper has two subjects: General Hindi and General English. The traditional form of paper includes translation and essay questions. 
  • For objective type, a negative marking mechanism will be implemented, with 0.25 marks subtracted for each wrong response.
  • The SSC JHT questions will be meant to assess candidates' grasp of literature, phrases and idioms, accurate word usage, and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely, and effectively. 
  • The questions will be asked of the level of graduation.
