Ministry of Ayush and IndiaAI Join Hands to Harness Artificial Intelligence for Traditional Medicine
Updated: 31 Jul 2026
2 Min Read

The Ministry of Ayush and IndiaAI, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 30 July 2026 to promote AI-driven innovation across the Ayush sector.
Dr. Kavita Jain noted that bringing AI into the Ayush ecosystem will open up new possibilities for evidence-based research, better knowledge management, and stronger innovation practices. She added that working with IndiaAI would help apply advanced AI tools across research, medicinal plant studies, drug administration, and skill-building efforts, pushing the sector toward a more technology-driven future.
Shri Sudeep Srivastava pointed to the value of merging modern technology with India's traditional knowledge base, describing the MoU as a meaningful move toward enriching AIKosh with traditional healthcare data, ultimately supporting researchers and practitioners in the traditional medicine space through AI. Shri Naman Goyal, OSD, Ayush Grid, added that this MoU builds on Ayush Grid's Emerging Technologies work, marking a key milestone in bringing AI deeper into the Ayush ecosystem.
The MoU also opens access to GPU-based and high-performance computing resources through IndiaAI at subsidised rates, under agreed service terms, helping meet infrastructure needs for scaling AI research in healthcare and traditional medicine.
As part of this partnership, the Ministry of Ayush will come onboard the AIKosh platform, allowing it to share eligible health research materials such as datasets, metadata, AI models, toolkits, and relevant use cases. This step is expected to encourage wider collaboration, spur innovation, and support responsible AI development tailored to the Ayush sector.
By combining India's traditional medicine heritage with modern AI capabilities, this collaboration aims to build a more evidence-driven, innovative, and future-ready Ayush ecosystem
