The 5th edition of the 'Dustlik' joint military exercise between India and Uzbekistan will take place in the Termez district of Uzbekistan starting from April 15. Exercise Dustlik 2024 is the 5th edition of the joint military exercise 'DUSTLIK' between India and Uzbekistan.

  • The 14-day exercise will be conducted in Termez District of Uzbekistan from 15 to 28 April 2024.
  • Indian and Uzbekistan armed forces joined for a training programme to enhance cooperation and future military ties.

Defence cooperation will increase:

  • The exercise's positive atmosphere will foster mutual understanding of each other's organizations.
  • This will go a long way in further strengthening the relationship between the two armies by enabling them to understand the methodology of conducting various operations.

Both armies will conduct tough training exercises:

  • The Indian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan will train together to strengthen the foundation of cooperation and future military interaction.
  • During the exercise the participating contingents of the Indian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan will undergo joint training sessions.

Fourth edition of 'Dustlik':

  • The 4th edition of 'Dustlik' was held on 20 February 2023 at Foreign Training Node, Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand). 45-45 soldiers of the Uzbekistan and Indian Army participated in this exercise.
  • Its objective is to promote positive relations between the two armies. The Indian Army contingent for the 'Dustlik' joint military exercise includes soldiers from an infantry battalion of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment.
  • The 14-day long joint exercise focused on joint counter-terrorism operations in mountainous and semi-urban landscapes under the United Nations mandate. The exercise involved field training exercises, combat discussions, lectures, and demonstrations.
  • Both sides jointly trained, planned and executed a series of tactical exercises to neutralize potential threats. Also learned to use new generation equipment and technology for joint operations. During this period, full emphasis was laid on increasing interoperability between the armies.
  • The first edition of this exercise between the two countries was held in Uzbekistan in November 2019.
