The Badminton World Federation (BWF) Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2026, which was the 34th edition of the Thomas Cup (Men’s World Team Championship) and the 31st edition of the Uber Cup (Women’s World Team Championship), was held from 24 April to 3 May, 2026 in Horsens, Denmark. The men’s team of the People’s Republic of China defeated France 3-1 to win the Thomas Cup 2026 title; it was their 13th title overall.
Meanwhile, the women’s team of the Republic of Korea defeated China 3-1 to win the Uber Cup 2026 title; it was their third title. Thomas Cup 2026: China won gold, France won silver, while Denmark and India secured bronze medals as the losing teams in the semi-finals. India’s men’s team won its first gold in the year 2022.
Uber Cup 2026: South Korea won gold, China won silver, while Japan and Indonesia secured bronze medals as the losing teams in the semi-finals.
The BWF Thomas and Uber Cups are biennial international badminton championships (team events for men and women respectively).
The Thomas Cup began in 1948–49 under the leadership of Sir George Thomas, while the Uber Cup was started by Betty Uber in 1956–57. Malaya won the first three editions. Indonesia is the most successful team with 14 titles, followed by China and Malaysia. China won the 2024 and 2026 titles, defeating Indonesia in both finals.
Its first tournament was held in 1956-57. The USA won the first three editions. Legendary teams: China has been extremely successful, winning 14 out of 17 editions between 1984 and 2016.
