Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the PM MITRA (PM MITRA - Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in Warangal, Telangana on 10 May, 2026, marking a historic milestone in India’s industrial and textile development journey.
Developed at a cost of Rs 1695.54 crore, this is the country’s first operational PM MITRA Park and it realizes the Government of India’s ‘5F’ vision - from Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion and Fashion to Foreign.
Strategically located near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (NH-163G) and close to NH-163, this park offers excellent multimodal connectivity to major railway networks and ports, ensuring seamless logistics for global trade.
Spread across 1,327 acres, this park is set to create large-scale opportunities across the textile value chain, with expectations of generating more than 24,400 jobs and thousands of jobs have already been created.
In March, 2022, the Telangana government had proposed the selection of Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal as one of the seven sites under the PM MITRA scheme, with the aim of expanding infrastructure and facilities to establish industries in the park.
The PM MITRA Park Scheme was officially launched on 21 October, 2021 through a notification of the Ministry of Textiles.
The Ministry of Textiles is establishing parks in Tamil Nadu (Virudhunagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat (Navsari), Karnataka (Kalaburagi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow) and Maharashtra (Amravati).
The foundation stone of the first PM MITRA Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh was laid by the Prime Minister.
The government has approved the establishment of PM MITRA Parks at greenfield/brownfield sites with an outlay of Rs 4,445 crore for a period of seven years up to 2027-28.
The ‘PM MITRA’ Park will be developed through a Special Purpose Vehicle in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, which will be jointly owned by the central and state governments.
Each ‘MITRA’ Park will have an incubation center, common processing house and a common effluent treatment plant along with other textile-related facilities such as design center and testing center.
India is the second largest producer of silk in the world and has a 95% share in hand-woven fabrics globally.
