India produced a sensational batting display against New Zealand in the third T20 International (T20I) at Wellington on October 27, 2026. Chasing a formidable target of 199 runs set by the hosts, the Indian team completed the run-chase in just 13.2 overs, finishing at 199/4 to secure a six-wicket victory.
Abhishek Sharma led the relentless chase with a blazing century (113 runs off 38 balls), while young opening partner Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided an explosive start (45 runs off 19 balls).
India's aggressive opening partnership broke three major team batting milestones in T20I cricket history: the joint-fastest team fifty, the fastest team hundred, and the highest powerplay score.
India reached the 50-run mark in just 2.2 overs, equaling the fastest team fifty recorded in T20 International history. This feat also stands as the fastest team fifty among Full Member nations.
Sooryavanshi initiated the assault against Jacob Duffy before Abhishek Sharma expanded his stroke-play, forcing the opposition into early defensive changes.
