Knowing the RPSC RAS Mains Syllabus and Exam Pattern is very important for the candidates appearing for the Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) exam, conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). RPSC RAS Exam, officially known as Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive Exam, is divided into three stages, namely, RAS Prelims, RAS Mains and Interview. Among these, the RAS Mains stage is the most important, as it evaluates not only your knowledge of various subjects but also your ability to present structured, analytical, and precise answers. 

Unlike the objective prelims, which is qualifying in nature, the RAS Mains Exam Pattern comprises descriptive papers that test your understanding of General Studies, General Hindi, and General English, making it essential to have a well-planned preparation strategy.

Candidates should begin their RAS Mains preparation early because the syllabus is vast, and good answer writing needs much practice. However, the first step is to understand the syllabus and the main themes covered. RPSC RAS Exam 2025: Mains Paper Pattern 

The RPSC RAS Written Exam is divided into parts, namely Prelims and Mains. Candidates who clear the Prelims exam will be eligible to appear in the RAS Mains, which has 4 papers. For a quick overview of the RPSC RAS Mains Exam Pattern 2025, please refer to the table below.

  • The written exam will consist of 4 papers, and each will be of 200 marks.
  • To be qualified for the Interview (personality test and viva voce), candidates must secure at least 10% marks in each paper and 15% in aggregate out of the total marks for all papers.

RPSC RAS Mains: Scheme of the Examination

After understanding the RAS Mains exam Pattern, it is now very important to know the scheme of the examination so that you can practice your answer writing accordingly. The RPSC RAS Mains Examination is designed to comprehensively assess candidates' knowledge, analytical abilities, and understanding of the current affairs issues relevant to the state, nation, and global affairs.  

Scheme of RAS Mains Examination:  

  • The number of candidates admitted to the Main Examination will be 15 times the total estimated number of vacancies to be filled for the year.
  • The written examination will consist of four papers, which will be descriptive /analytical.
  • The standards of General Hindi and General English questions in Paper 4 will be equivalent to those of the Senior Secondary Level. 
  • The maximum time allowed to attempt each paper shall be 3 hours. 

Paper-wise Scheme

Each paper of RPSC RAS Main exam has a specific number of questions, marks per question, word limit, and total marks. The detailed scheme is as follows:

  • पल्लवन: किसी सूक्ति, काव्य पंक्ति, प्रसिद्ध कथन आदि का भाव विस्तार (शब्द सीमा-लगभग 100 शब्द)
  • पत्र-लेखन: सामान्य कार्यालयी पत्र, कार्यालय आदेश, अर्धशासकीय पत्र, अनुस्मारक
  • प्रारूप-लेखन: अधिसूचना, निविदा, परिपत्र, विज्ञप्ति
  • अनुवाद: दिए हुए अंग्रेजी अनुच्छेद का हिंदी में अनुवाद। (शब्द सीमा-लगभग 75 शब्द)

भाग स - (अंक 20)

किसी सामयिक एवं अन्य विषय पर निबंध लेखन (शब्द सीमा लगभग - 250 शब्द)

Part C - Composition & Letter Writing (30 Marks) 

  • Paragraph Writing on any 1 of the 3 given topics in approximately 200 words. 
  • Elaboration of a given theme: Any 1 of the 3 topics in approximately 150 words. 
  • Letter Writing or Report Writing in approximately 150 words.
