The Rajasthan Election Department is running a Special Brief Revision Program 2023 on the theme of 'A Step for Participative Election' to include more and more voters' names in the voter lists.
The state level program of this campaign started with the organization of a walking-marathon on 25th August. A large number of students from government and private educational institutions, representatives of social service organizations and officers and employees of various departments participated in this marathon.
Addressing the program, Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Praveen Gupta said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, several innovations have been made to ensure participation of voters, especially the youth, in the grand festival of democracy.
Where earlier only youths who completed 18 years on January 1 could get their names added to the voter list, now applications are being made for voter registration on the basis of January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.
He urged that youths who have completed 18 years of age on October 1, 2023, must add their names to the voter list, so that they can exercise their franchise in the upcoming assembly elections. On this occasion, he also gave detailed information about registration through Voter Helpline App, Voter Service Portal of Election Commission of India.
Mr. Gupta said that under this revision program, the draft voter list has been published, through which voters can get information about their details, polling stations etc. Voters will be able to submit claims and objections for its amendment till September 19. He said that for this, special camps will also be organized at all the polling stations of the state on August 27 and September 10. In these camps, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will receive objections by being present at the polling booth.
The poster of the Special Brief Revision Program 2023 was released by the Chief Electoral Officer. He also administered the oath to the youth to vote. After this, the message of strength of democracy was also broadcast by releasing balloons in the air. During this, the students presented the song 'Main Bharat Hoon' and street plays on voter awareness. During this, by setting up a model polling station at Jawahar Kala Kendra, the youth were informed about the voting process through mock polling.
