Odisha has bagged the best state award in the 5th National Water Awards 2023, which was announced by the Union Minister for Jal Shakti Chandrakant Raghunath Paatil on 14 October 2024 in New Delhi. The winner of the awards in various categories will be conferred in a function to be held on 22 October 2024 in New Delhi. The award functions will be presided over by President Droupadi Murmu.
About the National Water Awards
The National Water Awards was instituted by the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti. The award was instituted to create awareness among the people about the importance of water and to adopt the best water usage practices.
The first Prize was given in 2018, and thereafter, it was given in 2019, 2020 and 2022.
