The SSC GD Notification 2026 has been released for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman (General Duty) positions across multiple central armed forces. SSC is going to fill a total of 25,487 GD Constable vacancies through this recruitment drive.
The SSC GD Recruitment process consists of several stages, including the Computer-Based Examination (CBE), Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Medical Examination, and Document Verification. The SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026 is a great opportunity for candidates willing to join various central armed forces as a constable and build a career in defence services. Candidates applying for SSC GD posts must meet the eligibility requirements set by the Staff Selection Commission, including nationality, educational qualifications, age limit, and physical standards, to be considered for the final selection.
Candidates must fulfil the below-mentioned SSC GD Eligibility Criteria 2026:
To be eligible for the SSC GD position, a candidate must be a citizen of India. Since vacancies in CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces) and Assam Rifles (AR) are allocated by State/UT/area, candidates are required to submit a domicile certificate or Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) corresponding to their state or union territory.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) revised the upper age limit by up to three years. Candidates applying for the GD Constable position should be aware of the age requirements as well as any upper age relaxations for different categories.
Note:- The crucial date for age determination is 1 January 2026. Therefore, candidates must be born between 2 January 2003 and 1 January 2008 inclusive.
Candidates from reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, and so on) are eligible for age relaxation. The age relaxation for various categories is shown in the table below.

To complete the SSC GD Application Process, candidates must pay the application fee. The fee can be paid online via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay credit or debit cards. This is the initial stage where candidates will take a computer-based test. Based on the results, including any additional NCC bonus marks if applicable, candidates will be shortlisted.
Candidates will be shortlisted for the PST/PET based on their merit in the Computer-Based Examination. Typically, about eight times the number of available vacancies will be called for these tests.
Successful candidates in the PST/PET will then move on to the Detailed Medical Examination and Document Verification stages.
