SSC GD Recruitment 2026 notification has been released by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on 01 December 2025. This recruitment aims to fill General Duty Constable posts across BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, SSF, and Rifleman for Assam Rifles for the 2026 cycle. With the release of the SSC GD Constable Notification 2026, candidates can now check all details regarding eligibility, age limits, vacancies and the selection procedure for Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2026.

SSC GD Recruitment 2026 

The SSC GD Notification 2026 has been released for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman (General Duty) positions across multiple central armed forces. SSC is going to fill a total of 25,487 GD Constable vacancies through this recruitment drive.

The SSC GD Recruitment process consists of several stages, including the Computer-Based Examination (CBE), Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Medical Examination, and Document Verification. As per the Recruitment Rules framed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the MHA and SSC, the Commission will conduct an open competitive examination for the recruitment of eligible candidates in the following forces:

SSC GD Eligibility Criteria 2026

The SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026 is a great opportunity for candidates willing to join various central armed forces as a constable and build a career in defence services. Candidates applying for SSC GD posts must meet the eligibility requirements set by the Staff Selection Commission, including nationality, educational qualifications, age limit, and physical standards, to be considered for the final selection.

Candidates must fulfil the below-mentioned SSC GD Eligibility Criteria 2026:  

(a) Nationality:

To be eligible for the SSC GD position, a candidate must be a citizen of India. Since vacancies in CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces) and Assam Rifles (AR) are allocated by State/UT/area, candidates are required to submit a domicile certificate or Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) corresponding to their state or union territory. 

(b) Age Limit:

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) revised the upper age limit by up to three years. Candidates applying for the GD Constable position should be aware of the age requirements as well as any upper age relaxations for different categories. 

  • Minimum Age – 18 years
  • Maximum Age – 23 years

Note:- The crucial date for age determination is 1 January 2026. Therefore, candidates must be born between 2 January 2003 and 1 January 2008 inclusive.

Relaxation in Upper Age Limit

Candidates from reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, and so on) are eligible for age relaxation. The age relaxation for various categories is shown in the table below.

SSC GD Application Process

SSC GD Application Link 2026 is activated, and candidates can apply from 01 to 31 December 2025 by visiting the official website of the SSC. In case you are facing any trouble in submitting your SSC GD Application Form 2026, you can follow the steps carefully:-

  1. Visit the official SSC website.
  2. Log in to the portal. If you’re a new user, select the "New User?" option and choose "Sign Up Now" to create your account.
  3. Once registered, log in using your credentials (Registration number and password).
  4. Under the quick link section, click the Apply button and find "SSC GD Examination" under the latest notices.
  5. Click "Apply" at the bottom right and complete all the required fields.
  6. Upload your scanned photograph and signature.
  7. Select "I Agree" and complete the CAPTCHA verification.
  8. Review your details by clicking the "Preview" button. After verifying, click "Submit."
  9. Proceed to pay the SSC GD Application Fee using the provided payment options.
  10. Make sure to take a screenshot of the final submission for your records.

Application Fees 

To complete the SSC GD Application Process, candidates must pay the application fee. The fee can be paid online via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay credit or debit cards. Applications received without the prescribed fee will not be considered and will be summarily rejected, with no appeals entertained. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other examination or selection.

SSC GD 2026 Selection Process

The SSC GD recruitment process is detailed in the SSC GD Notification, which involves several stages:

Computer-Based Examination (CBE)

This is the initial stage where candidates will take a computer-based test. Based on the results, including any additional NCC bonus marks if applicable, candidates will be shortlisted.

Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates will be shortlisted for the PST/PET based on their merit in the Computer-Based Examination. Typically, about eight times the number of available vacancies will be called for these tests.

  • Physical Standard Test (PST): Shortlisted candidates will then undergo a Physical Standard Test to check if they meet the required physical standards.
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): After passing the PST, candidates will take the Physical Efficiency Test, which assesses their physical fitness.

Medical Examination (DME/RME)/ Document Verification (DV)

Successful candidates in the PST/PET will then move on to the Detailed Medical Examination and Document Verification stages.

  • Medical Examination (DME/RME): Candidates who pass the PST and PET will proceed to the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME) to ensure they meet health and fitness standards.
  • Document Verification (DV): The final step involves document verification, where candidates must provide and verify their eligibility certificates and other documents with the originals.

SSC GD Exam Pattern 2026

The SSC GD Exam Pattern 2026 has been clearly explained in the official notification. Candidates planning to appear for the SSC GD Exam 2026 must check the exam pattern thoroughly before beginning their preparation. Below is the detailed SSC GD Exam Pattern 2026 for reference:

  2. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
  3. Candidates will be given 60 minutes to complete the SSC GD Computer-Based Examination 2026.

SSC GD Admit Card 2026

The SSC GD Admit Card 2026 for all stages of the recruitment process will be released separately by the Staff Selection Commission. The admit card is a mandatory document that confirms your registration and allows you to appear for the examination. It will include all important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, exam date and shift timing, reporting venue, exam centre address, and important exam-day instructions by the commission.

Candidates must download, print, and carefully verify all the details mentioned on their SSC GD Constable Admit Card well before the exam day. SSC GD Answer Key 2026

The Staff Selection Commission will publish the Tentative SSC GD Constable Answer Key 2026 on the official website, and candidates will be able to submit challenges/objections against the tentative answers during the prescribed time period. Following that, the commission will provide a final answer key after evaluating all the objections. Candidates can obtain the SSC GD Final Answer Key 2026 by following the instructions outlined below. 

  • Visit the official website of the Staff Selection Commission and click on the answer key link available on the website's homepage.
  • A new page will load; click on the link GD Constable Answer Key 2026.
  • A PDF will now appear on the candidate's screens. By clicking on the download link provided in the PDF, you can obtain the answer key. 
  • Candidates can now open a new tab and begin calculating their scores.

SSC GD Result 2026

The SSC GD 2026 Result will be announced by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) once the SSC GD Exam is conducted by the SSC. To qualify the SSC GD CBT, candidates must meet the cutoff criteria set by the Commission for the CBT. SSC GD 2026 Exam Cut-off 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) releases the SSC GD Constable Cut-Off Marks after each stage along with the results. The cut-offs are declared category-wise and post-wise for male and female candidates. All candidates who score above the cut-off marks are shortlisted to proceed to the next stage of the selection process, which includes the Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and finally, document verification.

As per the official SSC GD Notification 2026, candidates must secure the following minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Examination (CBE) to be eligible for shortlisting to the next stages:

SSC GD Constable Salary Details 2026 

The SSC GD Constable posts fall under Pay Level – 3 of the pay matrix. The basic pay range for all the posts is from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month. Along with the basic pay, successful candidates will also receive other allowances and benefits as per the Ministry of Home Affairs rules, including:

  • Dearness Allowance (DA)
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA)
  • Transport Allowance
  • Other applicable allowances as per the Central Government norms.
