Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with 250 Jammu and Kashmir students in the national capital as part of the 'Watan Ko Jano' Youth Exchange project. Currently, the students are travelling to Delhi, Ajmer, Jaipur, and other destinations during their 12-day experience visit.  

Launch of Watan Ko Jano Programme

  • Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, flagged off the group and ten coordinators and carers at the Watan Ko Jano Programme. 
  • The Jammu and Kashmir Rehabilitation Council, in partnership with the Union Home Ministry, organises the "Watan Ko Jano" initiative.

About Watan Ko Jano Programme

  • The Watan Ko Jano Programme is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Central Government (Kashmir Cell), and the Social Welfare Department of the J&K State Rehabilitation Council.
  • It aims to offer students who participate leisure facilities. 
  • The youth exchange program aims to give exposure to young people from Jammu and Kashmir. 
  • Participants in the 'Watan Ko Jano' Youth Exchange project get a personal look of India's rich social and cultural heritage.

Primary objective of Watan Ko Jano Programme

  • The Watan Ko Jano Youth Exchange Program's main goal is to expose young people from Jammu and Kashmir.
  • It focuses particularly on those impacted by militancy who reside in Department of Social Welfare-run facilities like Parish Homes and Palash.
