The Union Ministry of Education has launched the ‘Study in India Portal (SII)’ with an aim to provide comprehensive information about the Indian Higher Education Institutions to the foreign students willing to study in India .
The Study in India Portal was launched by the Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar jointly in New Delhi on 3 August 2023.
Students from Russia, Thailand, Japan, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan and Republic of Korea who are currently studying in India, presented souvenirs from their culture as a token of respect to dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion the External Affairs minister Dr. Jaishanker said that the portal signifies the Government’s commitment to make India a global hub of education by welcoming students of diverse backgrounds. He also said that the portal will establish a strong international footprint of brand ‘India’ in the education sphere. He mentioned how implementation of New Education Policy (NEP)2020 has already initiated entrance of foreign universities in India and opening of international campuses of our premier institutions.
The Study in India programme involves partnership with educational institutes fulfilling one of the following criteria:
The educational institutes shall have a ranking upto 100 on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking scale.
The educational institutions shall have a minimum 3.1 accreditation score as per the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation score.
The educational institution has been declared a Institutes of National Importance.
