The Department of Financial Services (DFS) has bagged the First Prize under the 'Rajbhasha Kirti' Award for 2025-26, recognising its outstanding work in promoting Hindi as the Official Language. The award was presented at the 6th All India Official Language Conference and Hindi Diwas, held on 14-15 September 2026 at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, under the chairmanship of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah.
DFS received this honour in the category of ministries/departments with fewer than 300 personnel, for its effective use and innovative promotion of Hindi during 2025-26. Shri Hari Har Mishra, Additional Secretary, DFS, received the award from Union Minister Amit Shah on behalf of the department. The conference brought together representatives from various ministries, departments, and institutions across India that work in the field of Official Language implementation.
The Department of Financial Services operates under the Ministry of Finance and is responsible for policy matters relating to banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and financial institutions in India. Beyond its core financial regulatory role, the department has also been actively working to strengthen the use of Hindi in its day-to-day official functioning, which earned it this recognition.
The 'Rajbhasha Kirti' Award is conferred annually by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, to recognise ministries and departments that demonstrate exceptional commitment to implementing Hindi as the Official Language. The award honours efforts made toward encouraging wider use of Hindi in official communication, ensuring compliance with language policy guidelines, and introducing creative and innovative approaches to Hindi usage in administrative work. Departments are judged based on their category, depending on staff strength, ensuring fair recognition across organisations of different sizes.
Besides DFS, several other government bodies were also recognised at the conference for their contribution to Hindi promotion. Here's a quick look at the other notable winners:
These awards collectively highlight how different central government bodies, regardless of size or domain, are being encouraged to weave Hindi meaningfully into their everyday administrative and communication work.
