Indian Navy and Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur signed an MoU on 15 December 2023 at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi, to promote innovation. This MoU symbolises their commitment to promoting technology development, innovative solutions, and joint research and development.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding:

  • Rear Admiral K. Srinivas and Professor Subramaniam Ganesh, Acting Director of IIT Kanpur, signed this MoU between the two.
  • Both institutions have a common interest in the academic exchange of scientific research activities in the engineering field related to defence technologies.

Benefits of MoU:

  • This MoU will serve as a comprehensive framework. This will help enhance capacity building on both sides and provide solutions to field-level issues.
  • It will also enable both to enhance training effectiveness by exchanging faculty/guest lectures.
  • This systematic cooperation between the two parties focuses on a joint research and development initiative. It includes teams from the Center of Excellence (Marine Engineering) at INS Shivaji, Lonavala and IIT Kanpur.

  • This MoU will promote an environment conducive to strategic engagement, innovation and knowledge exchange.
  • This agreement marks a significant step forward in forging a cooperative partnership between academic institutions and the armed forces.
