Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and veteran Indian women's hockey team goalkeeper Savita Punia won the 7th Hockey India’s best male and female players awards, respectively.

The 7th annual Hockey India award ceremony was held in New Delhi on 15th March 2025, in which hockey players' institutions associated with the game of hockey were honored for their performance in the 2024 hockey season.

This year's celebration was also significant as it marked the centenary of Indian hockey and the golden jubilee of India’s historic 1975 Men’s Hockey World Cup win. 

The Hockey India Annual Awards was started by Hockey India in 2014.

Top Awards for Harmanpreet 

  • India men’s team captain Haramanpreet Singh won Hockey India’s Balbir Singh Sr. Award for Player of the Year in the men’s category..
  • Harmanpreet Singh led the Indian team to a bronze medal in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, and he was also the top goal scorer of the tournament.
  • He also led the Indian team to its 5th Men’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy title at the 8th edition of the Champions Trophy held in China in 2024.
  • He was also the Player of the Tournament at the 2024 Men’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.
  • Harmanpreet Singh was also named the 2024 FIH Men's Player of the Year.

7th Hockey India Awards and their winners 

Following are the winners of the 7th Hockey India annual awards 2024. The winner got a Trophy, certificate and cash prize.

Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award:

  • Indian men’s hockey team that won the 1975 World Cup. They defeated Pakistan in the final at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The team was led by Ajit Pal Singh.
  • Prize money- Rs 30 lakhs.

Balbir Singh Sr. Award for Player of the Year (Men):

  • Harmanpreet Singh.
  •  It was the second time he has won the prize.
  • Prize Money- Rs 25 lakhs

Balbir Singh Sr. Award for Player of the Year (women):

  • Savita Punia 
  • It was the third time she has won the prize.
  • Prize Money -Rs 25 lakhs.

Jugraj Singh Award for Upcoming Player of the Year (Men Under 21):

  • Araijeet Singh Hundal
  • Prize money- Rs 10 lakhs 

Asunta Lakra Award for Upcoming Player of the Year (Women Under 21):

  • Deepika
  • Prize Money-Rs.10 lakhs 

Baljit Singh Award for Goalkeeper of the Year: 

  • Savita Punia
  • Prize Money- Rs 5 lakhs 

Pargat Singh Award for Defender of the Year:

  • Amit Rohidas
  • Prize Money -Rs 5 lakhs 

Ajit Pal Singh Award for Midfielder of the Year:

  • Hardik Singh
  • Prize Money -Rs 5 lakhs 

Dhanraj Pillay Award for Forward of the Year: 

  • Abhishek
  • Prize Money- Rs 5 lakhs 

Jaman Lal Sharma Award for Invaluable Contribution:

  • Prasar Bharti for promoting and broadcasting hockey.
  • Prize Money -Rs 5 lakhs

Hockey India President Award for Outstanding Achievement

  • Beighton Cup Hockey Tournament.
  • It is the oldest hockey tournament in India, which was started in 1895.
  • It is currently organised by Hockey Bengal, and the 125th edition held in 2024 was won by the Indian Navy team. 
  • Prize Money -Rs 5 lakhs

Hockey India President Award for Umpire/Umpire Manager

  • Ripudaman Sharma
  • Prize Money -Rs 2.5 lakh

Hockey India President Award for Technical Official: 

  • Anil Kumar P K
  • Prize Money -Rs 2.5 lakh
