Chhattisgarh ITIs Transformed Into Industry 4.0 Hubs

The Chhattisgarh government has signed a 10 year agreement with Tata Technologies for transforming 36 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into an Industry 4.0 Technology Hub. The total cost of the project is Rs Rs 1,188.36 crore.

The Pune based Tata group company Tata Technologies will upgrade these 36  ITIs  which will serve as skill incubation centres and will also strengthen the technical proficiency of students and potential employers.

Under the agreement Tata Technologies will introduce new courses in the identified ITIs and train over 10,000 youth of the state per year  in advanced skills.

The ITIs to be transformed are of Baikunthpur, Odgi Wadrafnagar, Mainpat, Bagicha, Lormi, Koni-Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir, Akaltara, Hasaud, Raigarh, Kharsiya, Rajnandgaon, Dongargaon, Manpur, Chhuikhadan, Pandariya, Gunderdehi, Dallirajhara, Gurur, Durg, Patan, Dharsiwa, Hirapur, Arang, Abhanpur, Bhatapara, Simga, Bagbahra, Pithora, Kanker, Antagarh, Charama, Nagarnar, and Dantewada regions.

Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.o

The term Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) was coined  by Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum in 2016. 

In the 4IR, computers are inter-connected and communicate with one another to make decisions without  any human involvement. Under Industry 4.0 smart factories will be created which will incorporate advanced digital production to increase  automation and industrial production efficiency. 

Industrial Revolutions 

Industrial revolution refers to the change in human history from an agrarian society/economy to an economy/society dominated by Industry and machine manufacturing .

The First Industrial Revolution-

started in England in about 1750-60. It was based on the use of  water and steam driven machines for production purposes.

The Second Industrial Revolution-

which started in the late 19th century and early 20th century . Electricity was used  for mass production of goods  through the Assembly lines production system. 

The Third Industrial Revolution-

was triggered by the use of computers which led to automation in production systems and development of smart and autonomous systems fueled by data and machine learning.
