India secured a silver-bronze double in the men's javelin throw final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, held at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow on Friday, 31 July. Neeraj Chopra claimed silver with a season's best of 85.83m, while debutant Yash Vir Singh took bronze with a personal best 85.41m. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won gold, throwing 89.75m.

Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver in Commonwealth Games Javelin Throw

Battling strong headwinds, Neeraj opened with 80.97m before improving to 85.83m in round two, briefly taking the lead. He could not better that mark in his remaining attempts (81.29m, 80.73m, two no-marks), settling for silver. This marked his second CWG medal after gold at Gold Coast 2018; he had missed Birmingham 2022 due to injury.

Yash Vir Singh Bags Bronze Medal

Yash Vir Singh produced a clutch final-round throw of 85.41m, bettering his season-best of 83.72m, to claim bronze on his Commonwealth Games debut.

Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage Wins Gold

Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won gold with a lone valid throw of 89.75m in his second attempt, out of six overall. It was Sri Lanka's first CWG gold since 2006 and its first ever in athletics.
