The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, launched the e-SEHAT App to provide a comprehensive digital solution for the healthcare needs of the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Justice Arun Palli has been sworn in as the 38th Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Features of the e-SEHAT App 

The Jammu and Kashmir Health Department has developed the e-SEHAT app.

  • The app will cater to the healthcare needs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and healthcare providers, such as doctors and paramedics.
  • Through the app, patients and their attendants can access healthcare facilities and services across public and private sector hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • It provides detailed information about healthcare institutions, including doctors' availability, appointment booking options, diagnostic and surgical services, teleconsultation, telemedicine, and emergency care.
  • The app also includes helpline services for hospital assistance, ambulance information, and feedback mechanisms.
  • The app also provides comprehensive details on health insurance schemes such as Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya (AB-PMJAY), Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) and Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme(ECHS).

 

Justice Arun Palli sworn in as Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh  

Justice Arun Palli was sworn in as the 38th Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, administered Justice Arun Palli the oath and office at a function in Jammu. 

The ceremony was attended by the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, judges of the High Court, and others.

Justice Arun Palli replaced the acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Kumar. Justice Sanjeev Kumar took over as the acting Chief Justice after the retirement of Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan on 9th April 2025.

About Justice Arun Palli 

Justice Arun Palli started legal practice in 1988 at the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The Punjab government appointed Arun Palli as the state's Additional Advocate General in 2004.

The president appointed him Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana in December 2013.

About the High Court of J&K and Ladakh 

The High Court of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir was established in 1928.

In 1954, the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court was extended to Jammu and Kashmir.

The  1957 constitution of Jammu and Kashmir established the High Court as the highest judicial body in the state.

Under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019, the status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir was converted into a Union territory and split into the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh share a common High Court, the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Sanctioned Strength of High Court- 25 judges, including the Chief Justice.

Seat of the High Court- Jammu and Srinagar.  From November to April - Jammu, and from May to October - Srinagar
