Novak Djokovic breaks Federer's record to be Oldest No.1 Player

Novak Djokovic of Serbia broke the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer’s record of being the oldest man to be ranked No. 1 in the ATP Tour's computerised rankings. At 36 years and 321 days, Novak Djokovic surpassed Federer's record as the oldest No. 1 ranked men's tennis player.
Rohan Bopanna of India became the oldest-ranked men’s double player at 43 years of age last year. He again reclaimed the No. 1 rank in doubles at 44 this year.
Iga Swiatek of Poland remains the WTA (Women Tennis Association) no.1 ranked women's single tennis player.
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) introduced the computerised ranking system on 23 August 1973. The ranking for men’s double was introduced in 1976.The ATP updates the ranking every week.
Ilie Nastase of Romania was the first player to be ranked No.1 in the ATP men's single.
Novak Djokovic was ranked world no.1 for the first time on 4 July 2011, at the age of 24.
During the US Open, the world's leading male tennis player met and decided to set up The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in 1972.
The ATP administers the world men's tennis tour. It organises the ATP Tour, the Challenger Tour, and the second-tier tournaments.
The ATP tours include Masters 1000, ATP 500 and ATP 250.
It does not operate the Grand Slam events, which include the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. These are organised by the International Tennis Federation and national Tennis Bodies.
The Computerised ATP ranking system was introduced on 23 August 1973 for men’s professional tennis.
