- From September 28 to October 11, 2025, India made sporting history by hosting the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship for the first time at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

- This event was jointly organized by the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) and the Government of Gujarat. Competitions were held for 65 medals across four sports: Swimming (42 events), Artistic Swimming (11 events), Diving (10 events), and Water Polo (2 events).
- More than 1,100 participants, including athletes, coaches, and officials, competed over two weeks. The event also served as a qualifier for the 2026 Asian Games to be held in Nagoya, Japan.
India’s best-ever performance
- Srihari Nataraj emerged as the best athlete, winning 7 medals—the highest number ever won by an Indian in a single edition.
- Bhavya Sachdeva created history by winning India’s first women’s medal (bronze in 400m freestyle).
- India’s men’s team—Aneesh Gowda, Sajan Prakash, Shoan Ganguly, and Srihari Nataraj—set a national record with a time of 7:23.38 in the 4×200m freestyle relay and won a silver medal.
- In diving, India’s Wilson Singh Ningthoujam and Indiver Sairem finished fourth in the synchronized 10m platform (mixed) with a score of 300.66, showing great promise for the future in this event.
Women’s Blind Football World Cup, 2025
- In the final of the 2025 World Cup organized by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), Argentina defeated England in Kochi, Kerala, to claim the title. The defending champions retained the trophy with a 2-0 victory.
- In the final match at the United Sports Center, Kakkanad, Argentina continued its winning streak with goals scored by Garcia Sosa Bareneche and Johanna Aguilar.
- Japan finished second after defeating Brazil. India secured fifth place in the World Cup by beating Turkey.
- Argentina reached the final by registering an impressive win against Brazil in the semifinals. In the 2023 World Cup, Argentina won the championship by defeating Japan in the final.
- This tournament, organized by the Indian Blind Football Federation (IBFF), featured eight teams - India, Argentina, Brazil, England, Poland, Turkey, Canada, and Japan.
- The 2025 IBSA Women’s Blind Football World Championship was held in Kochi, Kerala, from October 2 to 12, 2025. It was the second edition of the IBSA Women’s Blind Football World Cup.
- Its inaugural edition was held in 2023 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The game is played in a five-a-side format, in which only the goalkeeper can see, and it consists of two halves of 20 minutes each.
Rajputana Royals won the first Archery Premier League
- Rajputana Royals (RR) won the title of the inaugural Archery Premier League (APL).
- The 2025 Archery Premier League was the inaugural season of the Archery Premier League. It was held from October 2 to 12, 2025, with six teams participating.
- Ram Charan was the official brand ambassador of the league. The league featured 36 Indian archers and 12 foreign archers divided into six teams. Prithviraj Yoddhas, Kakatiya Knights, Mighty Marathas, Rajputana Royals, Chero Archers, and Chola Chiefs were the six franchises.
- India’s top archer and Rajasthan Royals player Ojas Pravin Deotale said after winning the tournament that the APL would benefit Indian players and give them a stage experience similar to the Olympics.
- Ojas is the first Indian man to win an individual compound gold medal at the World Championship (2023), has won multiple gold medals at the Asian Games, and is one of the world’s best archers.
- The inaugural APL concluded with the final between Rajputana Royals and Prithviraj Yoddhas, in which the Royals held their nerve in the shoot-off to clinch the APL champion title.
