The Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, known as VB-G RAM G, came into effect across rural India on 1st July, 2026. The Rural Development Ministry confirmed a fund allocation of ₹95,692 crore for the current financial year, and the new law officially replaces the 20-year-old MGNREGA. This is among the biggest pieces of Viksit Bharat recent news this month, given how directly it touches rural livelihoods nationwide.
VB–G RAM G Act aims to align rural development with the vision of a developed India by 2047.
The formal national launch will take place on July 2, 2026, in Mukkavaripalli Village at Obulavaripalle Mandal, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch the Mission in person, with Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Revised wage rates, notified by the central government on July 1, 2026. A ₹300-per-day base floor, introduced for the very first time. No state wage under this programme can fall below that mark anymore. The national daily average wage has moved from ₹298.8 under MGNREGA to ₹327.4 under VB-G RAM G, a jump of over 10%. 21 states and UTs that were stuck below ₹300 have now been pulled up to the new benchmark.
States like UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh are seeing hikes between 15 and 25%. Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland top the list with nearly a 24.5% increase, the highest in the country.
