Bangladesh Clinches First U-19 Asia Cup 2023, Beating UAE

Bangladesh has won the Under-19 Asia Cup 2023 title for the first time by defeating United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the final. The Under-19 Asia Cup 2023 was held in the UAE from 8 to 17 December.

Highlights of Under-19 Asia Cup 2023:

• In the final match of Under-19 Asia Cup 2023, Bangladesh defeated UAE by 195 runs and captured the title for the first time.
• Playing first in the final match of Under-19 Asia Cup, Bangladesh scored 282 runs losing eight wickets in 50 overs. In response to which UAE could score only 87 runs after losing all its wickets in 24.5 overs.
• Bangladesh's Ashikur Rahman Shibli (129 runs off 149 balls) was chosen as the player of the match.
• Ashiqur Rahman Shibli was adjudged Player of the Tournament for scoring 378 runs with the help of two centuries and two half-centuries in 5 innings of the Asia Cup.
• The Bangladesh team was led (captain) by Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi.

Performance of Indian team in Under-19 Asia Cup:

• The Indian team lost to Bangladesh in the second semi-final of the Under-19 Asia Cup held on 17 December 2023.
• In the Under-19 Asia Cup, the Indian team was captained by Uday Saharan, vice-captain Soumya Kumar Pandey and Aravelli Avnish Rao as the wicketkeeper.
• India had won two of its three matches in the group stage. But the team could not win against Bangladesh.
