Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a number of skill development initiatives in the state on 8th September 2023 to help the youth of the state to become employable and to create self-employment avenues in the state. The initiatives were launched by the chief minister during the inauguration of training centres in Guwahati under the Assam Skill Development mission .
Speaking on the occasion the chief minister said that “60 training centres set up across the state under the state-funded Placement Linked Skill Development Training Programme to train the youth in short-term skill courses will prove to be a force-multiplier in making the youth employable and creating self-employment avenues in the state.”
He also said that the state government will collaborate with Tata Technologies to train the youth of 70 ITIs in concepts like Artificial Intelligence , Machine Learning ,etc . to make them ready for Industry 4.0.
The chief minister flagged off a ‘Skill Yatra’ to generate skill awareness amongst the youths of the state . Initially the skill vans will be launched in four districts Kamrup, Nalbari, Darrang and Morigaon of the state .
Indigenous Skill Training by Gurus was also launched by Himanta Sarma . The scheme will focus on preserving and promoting the state’s indigenous trades such as mask making, bell and brass metal, etc. Initially the scheme will be launched in 15 districts of the state, and 10 candidates will be selected from each district.
