UPSC Mains Admit Card 2024 was issued on 13 September 2024 by the Union Public Service Commission. The UPSC IAS Mains 2024 will be held from 20 to 29 September 2024. The UPSC CSE Prelims 2024 took place on 16 June 2024, and the results were announced on 1 July 2024. Candidates who passed the UPSC IAS Prelims 2024 are eligible to take the UPSC CSE Mains 2024.

UPSC IAS Mains Admit Card 2024

UPSC Mains Admit Card 2024 is out for those who have cleared the UPSC CSE Prelims 2024. Candidates must download their admit card well in advance of the last date to avoid last-minute technical issues. Without the UPSC Mains Admit Card, candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall. The UPSC IAS Mains Exam 2024 will take place across various exam centers and will consist of a total of 9 papers. UPSC IAS Mains Schedule 2024

UPSC IAS Mains Exam Pattern 2024

The UPSC CSE Mains 2024 will be held from 20 to 29 September 2024. To give yourself an edge in the exam, it's important to understand the UPSC IAS Mains Pattern 2024. Here's a breakdown of the exam pattern:

  1. The UPSC Mains exam consists of 9 descriptive papers, each lasting three hours. Candidates using a scribe are granted an additional 30 minutes per paper. 
  2. The exam includes two qualifying language papers (Paper A and Paper B), each worth 300 marks. To have your other papers evaluated, you must score at least 75 marks (25%) in each qualifying paper.
  3. The 7 merit papers, each worth 250 marks, are crucial for determining your final score. The total marks available from these papers are 1750, which will be used to rank you on the merit list.
  1. In the essay paper, you will write 2 essays, each valued at 125 marks. You will select one topic from each of the two sections, with each section offering 4 topics.
  2. General Studies Papers I, II, and III feature 20 questions each. Ten questions are worth 15 marks each, and the other ten questions are worth 10 marks each.
  3. General Studies Paper IV (Ethics) is divided into two sections: Section A has approximately 15 questions, each worth 10 marks, and Section B consists of 6 case studies, each worth 20 marks.
  4. The Optional Papers 1 and 2 each contain 8 questions, with individual questions worth either 10, 15, or 20 marks.
