1) Nationality

For eligibility regarding nationality, a candidate must fall into one of the following categories:

  • Citizen of India, or
  • Subject of Nepal, or
  • Subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came to India prior to January 1, 1962, with the aim of establishing permanent residency,or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African nations like Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or from Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

2) Age Limit

3) Educational Qualification

To be eligible for UPSC ESE Recruitment 2024, candidates must meet one of the following educational qualifications:

(a) Possess a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.           

(b) Have successfully passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).

(c) Hold a degree or diploma in Engineering from a foreign University/College/Institution, under conditions recognized by the Government for this purpose, as may be determined from time to time.

(d) Have passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).

(e) Have passed the Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.

(f) Have successfully completed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London, conducted after November 1959.

Please note that candidates applying for the positions of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group 'A' may possess any of the qualifications mentioned above or the specific qualifications outlined below:

  • Possess an M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with specialization in Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering.

For Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group 'A'

  • Hold an M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with specialization in Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering. OR
  • Possess a Master's Degree in Science with a specialization in Physics and Radio Communication, Electronics, or Telecommunication.

4) Physical Standard

To be eligible for the Engineering Services Examination in 2024, candidates must satisfy the physical requirements as specified in the Rules for the Engineering Services Examination, 2024.
