UPSC ESE Notification 2025 was issued by the Union Public Service Commission on 18 September 2024. Earlier the UPSC ESE online applications can be submitted from 18 September to 8 October 2024, until 6:00 PM. Now, the Commission has announced the opening of a New Application Window for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) from 18th October 2024 to 22nd November 2024. After this time, the application link will be disabled. Candidates must apply online exclusively through the UPSC website within the timeframe specified in the UPSC ESE Notification to avoid last-minute difficulties.

UPSC ESE Preliminary Exam is scheduled to take place on 9 February 2025. Those who want to appear in the UPSC ESE 2025 must apply for the UPSC ESE Recruitment 2025 after checking the UPSC ESE Notification 2025. UPSC ESE Recruitment based on the results of this Engineering Services Examination will be conducted for various Services and Posts under the various categories such as Category I covers Civil Engineering, Category II includes Mechanical Engineering, Category III pertains to Electrical Engineering, and Category IV is for Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

UPSC ESE 2025 Vacancy

UPSC ESE Notification is out with the vacancy announcement of the 2025 year for the Engineering Services posts. Approximately 457 vacancies are expected to be filled through this UPSC ESE/IES, including 22 positions reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). This includes 13 vacancies for individuals with Locomotor Disabilities (such as those cured of leprosy, those with dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy) and 9 vacancies for those who are Hard of Hearing. The number of vacancies for the UPSC ESE is subject to change.

Additionally, reservations will be made for candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, in accordance with government regulations.

Nationality

For eligibility regarding nationality, a candidate must fall into one of the following categories:

  • Citizen of India, or
  • Subject of Nepal, or
  • Subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came to India prior to January 1, 1962, with the aim of establishing permanent residency,or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African nations like Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or from Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

Age Limit

Educational Qualification

To be eligible for UPSC ESE Recruitment 2025, candidates must meet one of the following educational qualifications:

(a) Possess a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.           

(b) Have successfully passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).

(c) Hold a degree or diploma in Engineering from a foreign University/College/Institution, under conditions recognized by the Government for this purpose, as may be determined from time to time.

(d) Have passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).

(e) Have passed the Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.

(f) Have successfully completed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London, conducted after November 1959.

  • Possess an M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with specialization in Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering.

For Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group 'A'

  • Hold an M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with specialization in Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering. OR
  • Possess a Master's Degree in Science with a specialization in Physics and Radio Communication, Electronics, or Telecommunication.

Physical Standard

To be eligible for the Engineering Services Examination in 2025, candidates must satisfy the physical requirements as specified in the Rules for the Engineering Services Examination, 2025.

To apply for UPSC ESE 2025 online, candidates should follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Visit the official UPSC website of the UPSC.
  2. On the homepage, click on the "Apply Online" link.
  3. If you are a new user, you must first register by clicking on the "One-Time Registration (OTR) for examinations of UPSC" link. Now provide your personal information like your name and contact details. 
  4. After successful registration, log in using one of the following methods:
    1. Valid email address and OTP
    2. Mobile number and OTP
    3. OTR ID and OTP
  5. Complete the UPSC ESE 2025 application form in two stages, including the payment of the application fee, uploading scanned copies of necessary documents, signing the form and agreeing to the declaration.

Application Fee

Applicants must submit an application fee of Rs. 200/- (Two Hundred Rupees only). Female candidates, SC/ST candidates, and PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) candidates are exempted from paying the fee.

UPSC ESE 2025 Exam Cut-off 

UPSC ESE Cut-off Marks 2025 will be announced, once the exam is conducted. According to the UPSC ESE Notification issued by the UPSC, the Commission will create a list of candidates eligible for the Engineering Services (Main/Stage-II) Examination based on the minimum qualifying marks in both the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Paper (Paper-I) and the Engineering Discipline-specific paper (Paper-II) of the Preliminary/Stage-I Examination. Candidates who achieve the minimum qualifying marks set by the Commission in both Stage-I (Preliminary) and Stage-II (Main) Examinations will be called for Stage-III, which is the Personality Test.

UPSC ESE 2025 Salary

The UPSC ESE salary varies by level, ranging from a grade pay of 5,400 to 8,700, depending on the engineer's experience. In addition to a competitive salary, those who pass the IES Exam and secure a position enjoy various privileges and benefits not typically available in other roles. Some of these benefits include residential quarters or HRA, dearness allowance, an official vehicle, gratuity, CGHS medical facilities, a personal assistant, leave travel allowance/tour allowance, provident fund, and leave encashment, among others.
