Now, the Commission has announced the opening of a new application window for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) from 18th October 2024 to 22nd November 2024. This window is available for new applicants and also allows those who applied during the initial application period (18th September to 8th October 2024) to make changes to their applications.
Earlier UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2025 Notification, was originally issued on 18th September 2024, with the application deadline set for 8th October 2024. However, following the government’s decision to include recruitment for the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) through both the Civil Services Examinations (for Traffic, Accounts, and Personnel sub-cadres) and ESE (for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication, and Stores sub-cadres), the Ministry of Railways notified amendments to the IRMS Rules on 9th October 2024. Consequently, the opening of the correction window, scheduled for 9th October 2024, was temporarily put on hold to accommodate these changes.

The UPSC has postponed the ESE Exam 2025 to provide aspirants with sufficient preparation time. As a result, both the ESE (Preliminary) and ESE (Main) exams for 2025 have also been rescheduled. The ESE (Preliminary) will now take place on 8 June 2025, and the ESE (Main) on 10 August 2025.
