UGC Net Exam is conducted twice every year by the NTA to select qualified applicants for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship positions in Indian universities and colleges. After passing the examination, candidates can apply for associate professor and junior research fellowship positions at their chosen universities. Although the final selection will be done on the basis of criteria set by the Institute or the University itself.
No citizen from any other country( except India )can apply for this examination.
Candidates for the JRF Exam should not be older than 30 years (as on June 1, 2024). Candidates applying for the Assistant Professor position have no upper age limit. Relaxation in upper age for the post of JRF is shown in the table below.

Candidates for the General/Unreserved/General-EWS categories must have a Master's degree with a minimum of 55%. Other Backward Classes (OBC) are candidates from Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third Gender category who have obtained at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in a Master's degree or equivalent examination.
Note:
Ph.D. degree holders who completed their Master's level examination by September 19, 1991 (regardless of the date of result declaration) are eligible for a 5% redemption in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) when taking the NET.
UGC NET June application 2024 can be submitted from 20 April to 10 May 2024. To apply for the UGC NET Application Form 2024, candidates can follow the steps outlined below:
Step 1: Visit the official UGC NET website.
Step 2: Upon accessing the website, a new window will appear. New users should click on the “New Registration” button to begin the registration process. Alternatively, existing users can fill in their details and click on the “SIGN IN” button.
Step 3: Fill in all necessary details including Application Number, Password, and Security PIN, then proceed by clicking the login button.
Step 4: Select your preferred Exam Centre and language medium for UGC NET 2024.
Step 5: Provide your Aadhar card number, gender, category, Employment status, and Qualifying Exam status.
Step 6: Input your Educational Details, including your most recent qualification, percentage, etc.
Step 7: Enter your communication address, phone number, and email ID.
Step 8: Upload your photo and signature, ensuring both images are in jpg/jpeg format with a white background.
Step 9: Proceed to the payment page to complete the payment for the UGC NET 2024 Exam, which can be done via online or offline modes.
Step 10: Click on the “SUBMIT” button and download the confirmation page for future reference.
Note: Candidates should also download and install the SANDES application as a secondary channel to receive NTA notifications regularly.

The UGC NET is a qualifying exam for candidates applying for Assistant Professor and JRF positions at government universities and institutes. UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024
The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the UGC NET exam. It is the qualifying exam for the positions of Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellow at various universities and colleges across India. The duration of the examination will be 03 hours (180 minutes) without any break. All the questions are compulsory.
UGC NET Exam Pattern for Paper I
The written exam will be administered OMR-based only. The exam paper will be available in only English and Hindi languages. During the UGC NET Application form-filling process, NTA allows candidates to select a medium from the options provided.

The UGC NET Paper 2 exam will be determined by the subject chosen from among the 82 available subjects when registering for the UGC NET exam. Also, candidates can only appear in their post-graduate subject for Paper 2 of the UGC NET exam. If their post-graduation subject is not on the list of 82, they may select a comparable subject.
However, regardless of the subject chosen by the candidate, the exam pattern will be consistent. Candidates must be well-read and knowledgeable about their subjects, as this will be the primary test of their understanding. The paper will be objective in nature having MCQ-type questions.

Updated Syllabi of UGC-NET - Paper 2
Candidates who obtain a valid UGC NET score that exceeds the cutoff or qualifying marks will be issued a UGC NET certificate. According to the new NTA and UGC norms, the UGC NET score for the Junior Research Fellowship is valid for three years from the date of certificate issuance. In contrast, for the Assistant Professorship, the score is valid indefinitely. As a result, in the case of Assistant Professorship, the candidate's UGC NET scores will be valid for life, whereas JRF scores are only valid for three years.

The UGC NET Exam answer keys will be available on the NTA UGC NET official website. Candidates who take the UGC NET exam can view and download the answer keys by visiting the official website. Candidates can download the UGC NET Answer Key from the official website of UGC NET by following the steps outlined below.
Step 1: Go to the official website of UGC NET and look for the "UGC NET Answer Key Released" notice.
Step 2: Click. On the notice. You will be redirected to the UGC NET answer keys page.
Step 3: Enter the required credentials (application number, date of birth/password, and security pin).
Step 4: Candidates should click on the submit button.
Step 5: The answer key, question paper, and response sheet will be displayed on the screen.
Step 6: Candidates may download the answer key for future reference.
The NTA will make the Provisional Answer Key(s) and Question Paper attempted by the candidate available on its website. The Provisional Answer Key(s) will most likely be displayed for two to three days, and candidates will have the opportunity to raise any objections they may have. However, they will be required to pay an online processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) Non-Refundable for each challenged answer.
The announcement of the results is the most anticipated stage of any examination. The UGC NET Result will be available on the NTA's website shortly after the exam is completed.
