Navy Chief Hari Kumar presents gallantry, distinguished service awards

Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral R Hari Kumar presented Gallantry and Distinguished Service Awards to Naval personnel at South Goa on 14 April 2024. CNS, Admiral R Hari Kumar presented the awards to the naval personnel on behalf of President Droupadi Murmu.

The ceremony honored Naval personnel who have displayed gallantry, leadership, professional achievement and distinguished service of a high order.
For this, a special Naval Investiture Ceremony 2024 was organized at INS Hansa, Goa, on 14 April 2024.

Awards for distinguished service to naval personnel:

The awards recognize the bravery, leadership, professional accomplishments, and distinguished service of naval personnel.

35 Navy personnel honored with various awards:

A total of 35 personnel were honored with various awards during the Naval Investiture Ceremony at INS Hansa, Goa. In this, Navy Medal (Gallantry) was given mainly to the following:
- Commander Manish Singh Karki
- Commander Kaustab Banerjee
- Lieutenant Commander Panneerselvam Vishnu Prasanna
- Lieutenant Commander Bhaskar.

CNS Admiral R Hari Kumar awarded two Gold Medals:

During the award ceremony held in Goa, CNS Admiral R Hari Kumar was presented with two Memorial Gold Medals. These are as follows:
- The Lieutenant VK Jain Memorial Gold Medal is awarded for pioneering research in the field of weapons improvement and electrical engineering.
- Also presented the Captain Ravi Dhir Memorial Gold Medal for promoting flight safety.

CNS Trophy for Best Green Practices:

CNS Trophy awarded for Best Green Practices 2023 in the Indian Navy.
These were awarded to Naval Dockyard, Mumbai and INS Valsura in industrial and non-industrial categories respectively.

Unit Citation for Excellent Service:

The CNS also awards Unit Citations to Naval units for outstanding service in the previous year.

Naval ships also included in Navy Award recipients:

Several ships of the Indian Navy were also included among the recipients of this Navy Award. These mainly included the following:
- Ship Teg
- Kolkata
- Karmuk
- Sumedha
- Sumitra and
- Sharda
- Submarine INS Sindhu Kesari
- Flight Squadron INAS 550
The list of coastal establishments included Chilka, Sarkar, Eksila, Dronacharya, and the Naval Ship Repair Yard in Karwar.
