India Hosts BRICS Women’s Ministerial Meeting in Kochi

India is hosting the BRICS Women’s Ministerial Meeting in Kochi, Kerala, on July 8 and 9, 2026, as part of its BRICS Chairship 2026. Ministers and Heads of Delegation from all BRICS member countries have gathered for the two-day high-level meeting to strengthen cooperation on women's empowerment and reaffirm shared commitments to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development.

BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting Kochi 2026: Key Agenda

The ministerial meeting builds directly on the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting held in Kochi on July 6-7, 2026, where senior officials completed substantive deliberations on priority areas under the BRICS Women Track. Ministers now step in to review those outcomes and provide strategic direction for the way forward.

On the table are women's leadership, economic opportunities, digital and financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and women's contributions to climate action, food security, and nutrition. The program includes a plenary session, thematic panel discussions with experts and policymakers, and exhibitions showcasing India's achievements in women-led development across rural development, STEM, nutrition, and education sectors.

BRICS Women Track: India's Push for Gender Equality

The BRICS Women Track under India's Chairship is structured to push gender equality from dialogue into practical cooperation. Three virtual preparatory meetings, held on April 30, May 22, and June 29, preceded the in-person working group and ministerial meetings, ensuring member countries arrived in Kochi with groundwork already done.

The ministerial meeting is the highest-level outcome of the entire BRICS Women Track process under India's 2026 chairship.
