GENESIS Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Cohort-3 Launched at GENESIS NextGen Startup Summit

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through MeitY Startup Hub, launched GENESIS Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Cohort 3 on August 4, 2026, a national programme aimed at helping aspiring entrepreneurs, students, researchers, and early-stage founders turn innovative ideas into technology-driven ventures.

About GENESIS EIR 3.0

1. GENESIS EIR 3.0 forms part of the broader GENESIS (Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups) scheme, which focuses on discovering and supporting startups, particularly those emerging from Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
2. Through its Entrepreneur-in-Residence component, the programme offers targeted funding and incubation support, helping innovators move their early-stage ideas closer to becoming pilot-ready solutions. 
3. The initiative is run under MeitY Startup Hub, which acts as a national platform connecting startups with incubators, investors, mentors, and industry stakeholders to strengthen India's DeepTech ecosystem.

Launch at the GENESIS NextGen Startup Summit - Coimbatore Edition

GENESIS EIR 3.0 was officially launched at the GENESIS NextGen Startup Summit, Coimbatore Edition, held on August 4, 2026, at Rathinam Global University. The summit itself served as a platform to bring together entrepreneurs, students, industry leaders, and ecosystem partners to promote innovation-led entrepreneurship through mentorship and networking. The formal launch was carried out by Dr Panneerselvam Madanagopal, CEO of MeitY Startup Hub, in the presence of Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar and Rathinam Global University Chancellor Dr Madan A. Senthil, among other dignitaries.

Call for Applications for GENESIS EIR 3.0

1. Applications for GENESIS EIR Cohort-3 are now open, welcoming early-stage innovators working on technology solutions in Electronics, IT, ICT, and DeepTech. 
2. Selected applicants can receive financial assistance of up to ₹10 lakh, along with mentorship, incubation support, and access to participating GENESIS incubators. 
3. The programme covers focus areas like AI/ML, IoT, Semiconductor/VLSI, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Quantum Technologies, and AR/VR.
4. To be eligible, applicants must be Indian citizens working on innovations at an early technology readiness stage (TRL 1-4), based in a Tier-II or Tier-III city. 
5. If already incorporated, the startup must be less than two years old, and it should not have previously received more than ₹10 lakh in support from any government scheme for the same idea.
