Royal Challengers Bengaluru Won the IPL Title for the Second Consecutive Time

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans on 31 May 2026 to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the second consecutive time.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru became only the third team after Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings to successfully defend the IPL title.
The final match of IPL 2026 was played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium.
Both Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans had the opportunity to win their second IPL title and become the fourth most successful team in tournament history.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the IPL 2026 title by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 wickets. Gujarat Titans scored 155 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, while Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 161 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
In the final match, Virat Kohli won the 'Man of the Match' award for playing a magnificent match-winning innings of 75 runs.
The winning team of IPL 2026 received a prize money of ₹20 crore from the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
1. Most Valuable Player (MVP) - Award for delivering the best and most impactful performance throughout the entire season.
2. Emerging Player of the Season - title after receiving 36% of the votes.
3. Super Striker of the Season - Award for his explosive strike rate of 237.31. Under this award, he also received a Tata Sierra car as a prize.
4. Super Sixes of the Season- Award for smashing the highest number of sixes in the tournament 72 sixes, breaking the famous record of Chris Gayle.
5. Orange Cap - Vaibhav Suryavanshi won the Orange Cap in IPL 2026 for scoring the highest number of runs. He finished the season with 776 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 237.31.
At the age of 15 years and 65 days, the Rajasthan Royals batter became the youngest player to win this award. His remarkable season included one century and five half-centuries.
Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat Titans won the Purple Cap in IPL 2026. The South African fast bowler finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 29 wickets in 17 matches.
In 64.4 overs across 17 matches, Rabada conceded 626 runs at an average of 21.58 and an economy rate of 9.68, with best bowling figures of 3/25.
IPL 2026 began on 28 March 2026, where defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India released the IPL 2026 schedule in three phases due to assembly elections in the country.
Qualifier 1 was played in Dharamshala on 26 May.
The Eliminator and Qualifier 2 were played in New Chandigarh on 27 and 29 May respectively.
The final match was held on 31 May 2026 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Indian Premier League 2026 was the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League.
A total of 10 teams competed in 84 matches during the tournament.
